There's nothing better than meeting some kindly person who cares about people, and that reaches out to those that hide behind something they feel safe in, but really it is a fortress of protection we think, I pray this comes to pass, as we tale your yoke upon us Lord...beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

I can relate to your poem. Most people I live around don't really know me, because they don't bother to sit down and share stories. So, I delve into reading and writing and cello.
Like the protagonist in the poem, I'd rather be a social person sometimes, but on my terms. Isn't that how everyone feels?

I suppose there are many in this world who puts shields up around themselves so hard to break through and they feel like they are not being paid attention to, but it is because of their own shields that they're feeling this way. I hope that I would never feel that way. Patricia.

What a very observant poem. Eating alone in public is one of those things that is never easy for most of us and we do find our ways to to shelter ourselves from judgemental eyes and chance encounters. Good job. Thanks for sharing

Thanks so much! I enjoy my alone time a lot more now since I live with my daughter and grandkids and it's crazy & loud a lot of the time. I do find it hard to eat out alone if I get the chance to vacation on my own in my favorite spot, but I do it if I must. I'd rather bring back takeout.

Oh my gosh, you are so very right. A person can use a book as a shield, or a standoffish manner, or even another person to shield them from the one things they really want, and that's to meet new people.
A well written poem with a great message we could all learn from, and great artwork to draw us in.
