It is hard for teens to accept anything short of perfect parents who include them in everything. Kids never realize they may be too immature to understand adult actions. I hope the kids don't act up while their father is away. But with four children, something a bound to happen with at least one child. I can't wait to find out what shocking thing was included with Trenton's check.

Well, as always, you've got me sitting and waiting in anticipation of the coming shock. Of course, I have no idea, but I'm guessing Trenton has been terminated after the one check. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Beth! I'm just honored to even have my name in the voting with the likes of Humpwhistle and Giraffmang. Hugs, and a peck on the forehead.

It's fun to win, but most of all it's nice to be considered with such talented writers. Those two guys are real pros. I'm just an old country boy killing time. And getting to hang out and share stories with a sweetheart like you!

Ah, those teenagers! I can see how a teen daughter could take personal offense that her brother knew before her. But it's good that Marsha didn't confuse in her. It's also good that she has the support of a friend and her maid. Good idea to not stock the liquor.

Thank you, Helen. I appreciate you continuing to read this story. I like your comments. The teenagers I've known tend to think someone may be getting more attention than they are.

Alcoholism is a serious disease that destroys so many lives. It was heard for Trenton but also for his wife and kids. Your story sounds true and the dialog and characters are believable.

Well done!

Thank you, Gypsy. Actually. it is a true story. All this happened to close friend, but I've changed everyone's names.

This is a very well written chapter and it was a pleasure to listen to. It flows very well. Your sentence structure your paragraph and your punctuation are all very well done. Because you have taken care to make those things happen it makes it a pleasure to listen to. Patricia.

Your story is moving along well and is interesting. I like how you put a cliffhanger at the end of the chapter. In your comment by Linsey, I think you mean "Joey", instead of "you." You have a typo for your list "chacacters."

You left us in suspense with your last line Beth. The cure for alcoholism is long and winding path to good health and there will be relapses along the way. Will he be supported on this journey after he has cheated on his wife is the question on my lips. A fine chapter in your interesting story of this marriage, much enjoued, love Dolly x

Thank you, Dolly. This is a spoiler but since it is a true story, I will tell you the cure for alcoholism for this character won't happen until after he has had a liver transplant.

That was a surprise ending - and an excellent hook for the next chapter. The different reactions of the kids does give insight into the full picure of their family life. Looking forward to the next chapter.

This is one bad habit that destroys families and the loss of good jobs. You bring this out very well. I find it most common among the white- and blue-collar workers Good story, Beth.

Thank you, again for the nice review and six stars. There was lot of men alcoholics among the men in my mom's family. The women didn't touch it. Three of mom half-brothers died of liver disease caused by drinking. No one in my immediate family drank.

What a great chapter in that you took the time to look at the feelings and reactions of the children. They have feelings and questions too, and parents often overlook them.

Oh, I'm guessing that "shock" is a smaller check.

I think alcoholics do cheat on their partner - their lover is alcohol.

A good chapter, Beth.
