That's a well-told story in poetry format, and this old cowboy loved it a lot. You can do no wrong for me, if writings like these I continue to see. Great work, my friend, loved it. Thanks for sharing.

A poem that tells a story, and one that's been told many times by enough cowboys who've lived according to Hoyle. The ups and downs and time spend in the saddle. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing this story in a poem with us. It reminded me of Kenny Roger's "The Gambler". Such a good movie and song. I enjoyed reading. This is a good write.

Hi, Jim. Just letting you know I do still exist. I've been busy lately between Jewish holidays, family birthdays, classes, freelance work and other writing, so I'm way, way, way far behind on reviewing, but I wanted you to know I hadn't forgotten about you.
I always enjoy your western stories, whether poetry or prose. That's obviously a favorite time period of yours, and you seem to know the characters, traditions and vocal patterns well.
Your story is interesting and, while I've always known of and enjoyed "Ghost Riders in the Sky," I'd never considered this kind of spin on it. You are, as always, very original and very creative, and that makes your work very enjoyable.
I also love that you injected this with your patented sense of humor. I particularly enjoyed:
"So I scolded and whooped them
In five different voices
But none o'them
Were the cattle's choices."

This is very well written and I enjoyed very much listening to it and you have quite a flare here for this particular piece of writing. May you have a wonderful weekend and may God bless you. Patricia.

I love that song, especially as sung by Vernon Huskey.
You a pretty sad tale. Seems your character couldn't make a good decision, not a one.
Best wishes.
