And it involves, first and foremost, not falling for stupid-ass "bad boys" anymore! She officially now knows what's what.
This is percolating fiercely! You're doing great. Xo

Thank you. Love the percolating comment. Sounds feisty! Gretchen

You have the interaction of the three people involved exactly as it would likely be as Miranda is not stupid, Waylon is uncertain how to act between the two of them, and Miranda would like to kick Dougie in a tender spot. But what is the reporter up to?

Oh yes, Miranda has changed; she is not the woman Dougie remembers. I'm sure he'll find that out when Waylon isn't around. What a brazon slimball he is! But what has he come back for? It's certainly not for his son. I think he is going to have his heart broken again. Now, what does Colleen know that Miranda doesn't? Time will tell.
I loved this, Gretchen, and it would have had a six; it really deserved one. But I've been left a bit miffed about the six stars. I had only used four of mine, and suddenly I had none left. I checked in my comments and I was right, only four of them had been used. I got in touch with Tom and asked if I could have them back. His reply was that he'd checked and said I was right, but that he couldn't do anything about it!!!??? FS took them away, so FS should be able to give them back! I am not a happy bunny!
Well done, my friend, a virtual six! Warmest hugs, Sandra xxx

This is particularly riddled with deep feelings and worries, and handled amazingly well by Miranda. You keep getting better. I will not do a novel, for me it would be WORK. Writing poems and my short stories is a little hard, but not annoying work. Clear as mud aren't I? Good work, Karen

I'm not sure what the deal was with that reporter who was obviously lying about not being there for a story, since she had brought out her tape recorder at one point. But she definitely parted with a disconcerting remark that gave Miranda pause.
It's nice to see how attached Miranda is and how worried she is about Waylon. She showed great restraint when Waylon told her about his plans to go driving with Dougie, even though I'm sure she had great misgivings about it. And I loved how Dougie accuses Miranda of never changing when he himself seems guilty of that.
A well-written and interesting chapter, Gretchen.

Dougie is a sleaze ball. If he convinces himself that Miranda hasn't changed, then he's certain he can still get away with his usual behavior. Thanks so much. Gretchen

Yes, ma'am, there comes a time when those who have sat back and played along for longer than they ever should have, move on. But most times than not, they really have moved on at all. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Gretchen,
well, this doesn't sound good. Where the heck does Dougie get the money for a new truck, and what is his interest in Waylon? Frankly, why does the nosey newspaper gal want to know so much? I don't trust anyone from the media. I had an interview once with reporter about my first book, and they ended up misconstruing my words. I was pretty upset about it, but I vowed to never fall for that again. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.

I don't trust the media either, but Colleen might not be as bad as we think. Fingers crossed. Gretchen

Yes, Miranda has changed for the better and she will not be used by Dougie again. But hopefully, Waylon will figure out what kind of character his dad is and choose Miranda over him.

Colleen is such a witch and what's Dougie up to. Is he going to take Waylon away? I feel bad for Miranda.
Another intriguing chapter. You keep me anticipating what comes next. That's the sight of a great story.
Well done.

So Dougie has turned up after all, revealing thst he hasn't been murdered by Missy Toblerone, and comes in expecting a hug, but being greeted by a knee, it's interesting that the reporter Miss Weaver has intimated that Miranda's life is about to make a directional turn. Beautifully written Gretchen, blessings Roy
