As I've probably said a million times, you have that special knack of creating characters that I can relate to and enjoy. Real characters, those with qualities and faults that makes them believable. As if writing about a long time neighbor. Thanks for sharing.

I think I've missed a chapter or two. I've been traveling.
This is very nice writing, good dialogue.
'like she's the cat's meow' -- Haven't heard that one in a while.
young men scar easily. - 'scar' easily, or 'scare'? Either one works, though.
Best wishes.

Miranda is exactly right about them scrambled eggs and even better when mom makes them with love. Yummy! This just keeps getting more interesting. I have no idea what this Dougie wants but he's not back for his son. Great writing.

Miranda mom sounds so kind and wise.

I had smile at your humorous ending. Alice and Brenda are funny.

One of my jobs when I was very young was at a bank. The boss and some coworkers liked to get strippers for the ladies on their birthdays. It was a weird place to work. I was very shy and was terrified that they would get strippers for mine but never happened.

Well done! Another great chapter.

I went to see male strippers once. It was terrible. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Hello Gretchen,
this was another fun chapter to read. I can't imagine what two old ladies would find so entertaining about make strippers. I thought women were more interested in the more intimate side of sex, and not so much the visual part. It's good to see they brought cash this time.
I've never considered scrambled eggs comfort food, but I guess in the right company it could be. I loved all the dialogue, very realistic gal. Well done. Have a blessed day.
Tom

Some women, just like some men are gross. I've witnessed grown women talking about random men in the most nauseating ways. Upbringing is key. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Another good chapter that gives us a little more insight into Miranda's character--her self doubts especially. It's nice to see her mother be a cheerleader for her like that, because she's awfully hard on herself.

I love the characters Alice and Brenda, and it seems like Miranda is developing a fondness for them too, despite the fact they tried to rob her. I think she hopes to have their feistiness when she gets to be their age.

Not having read the previous story, why had Miranda been in the hospital in an apparent coma?

Miranda was attacked by a murderer. But she solved the crime. It was in the first book. Thank you so much. Gretchen

That bottom part of the storyt was my favorite part. You coulld have a story about Alice explaining through the bars of the jail cell about this tiny misunderstanding with them stripping the stripper who turned out not to be a stripper at all, but the son of the sheriff. Just a thought. Good work. Karen

I love this story. I can't wait to see what Dougie really wants. I also enjoyed these two old ladies.

. He still level headed and pragmatic. (levelheaded)

He told me , he kept waiting for you to open your eyes and say something smart alec. (no space after 'me,')

She points at the door and I roll my eyes. (comma after 'door,' You switch subjects)

"Ladies, you aren't here to start any trouble are you?" (comma after 'trouble')

I turn to Rita and whisper. "Don't take (whisper,)

"Met this one as we were walking by a construction sight. (site)

Hmmm. Something tells me these old con artists and Dougie are going to have a meet-and-greet, because two appearances in a book signifies more than passing-through characters. You have me intrigued.

I absolutely loved "eggs are our love language." That is fabulous and memorable.

Fine chapter yet again, Miss Talent. Xo

Alice and Brenda have a pivotal role in this story but it has nothing to do with Dougie. Thank you so much. Glad you are enjoying Miranda. Gretchen

Haha! What a wonderful pair. And a great contrast, this comic duo, to the earlier, more intense conversation between Miranda and her mother (equally satisfying). A well-structured and engaging chapter. Thank you, Gretchen. Debbie. One small edit below.
He('s) still level-headed
