Missed this one. I like that the way to Waylon's heart is a dinner at the deli. So much easier with teenaged boys than teenaged girls!
Ah, so Patterson knows Dougie. That's bad news.
That Waylon is so forgiving with his dad could also be bad news.
Anger and resentment seem to be talking up all of the room. (taking up)

Miranda you are one hell of a woman. You got the mother instinct and it's never easy raising a child but you learn as you go. I'm sorry Waylon but your deadbeat dad will only let you down again. Great writing.

I feel so bad for Miranda. Why do I think Waylon is going to be disappointed? I look forward to the next chapter. Note: Anger and resentment seem to be talking (taking) up all of the room.

Hello Gretchen,
boy, what a mess. On the one hand I can understand how the boy feels. I have a grandson who still blames his mom for getting a divorce from his deadbeat dad. Kids don't have an understanding of how the real world operates, which makes the love that Miranda has for Waylon all the more special. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.

I know this phone call didn't make Miranda day better. She did get off the hook with the teacher incident but now I sure she is scared to death Dougie is going to take his son.

Some good, honest emotions in this chapter, Gretchen. I can sympathize with both Waylon and Miranda. Certainly Miranda overstepped and may have exacerbated the situation, but I think Waylon understands she did it through love. And we can certainly appreciate the tough position Waylon is in with this jerk of a teacher who doesn't know the first thing about dealing with kids and chooses to mock and insult them for kicks.
Mrs. Fine may be a crusty old busybody, but she seems to have the pulse of Miranda and gives her good advice, though in a very tough and derogatory way. I'm starting to like her a bit.
A very good piece of writing.

I enjoy Mrs. Fine. She's got no problem calling Miranda out and even though she's a tad rude about it, Miranda needs it. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Gretchen

This is a really hard time for Miranda. She's wanted to know Dougie was alive, but she didn't want him to show up. To find Waylon if overjoyed to have his father back is breaking her heart, especially after she made Waylon mad by talking to his awful teacher.

Miranda, in her heart knows Dougie will let Waylon down again. She doesn't want to lose the boy. Thank you for this nice review. Gretchen

I really like this story. Just about everyone can identify with trying to understand teenagers, especially those of us who live with the guilt of divorce and single parenting. There was one place I thought needed a comma but can't find it now. Good story. Esther

Aargh ... being a parent is so hard. I feel bad for Miranda and Waylon
I hope Wayland doesn't get hurt
.
His expectations are too high, his dad is a loser
Well done, I enjoyed this chapter. You never disappoint

It takes a special knack to deal with children, some worse than others. And the only way to get the needed experience is to have a kid around to drive us nuts. Thanks for sharing.

Some kids should definitely come with instructions, while others are a breeze to raise. God love them, some days are tough. Thank you for this awesome review and the six. Gretchen
