Although Aussie as well, I did not have to live under his rule. I think fear made people react in all sorts of differing ways, not all of which were either wise or pleasant. You have written an excellent piece - best wishes for the contest.

Thank you, Wendy. His successor is another egotist. Ho hum, I am so glad I'm perfect (yeah, right!)
Comment from Julie Helms
This is a well-written piece. I understand totally the frustration of a politician who seems one way when they campaign, but when the rubber meets the road, a whole different picture emerges.
One typo fix:
Marilyn Munro
(Monroe)
The nickname Dipstick Dan made me laugh....kind of says it all.
An excellent article for the prompt!

:-)
(Edited...I did just notice the contest calls for fiction. I'm assuming yours is nonfiction, not sure if that will be a 'compliance' issue)

You are right. It probably will be Methinks a daft contest, given the time of year. Thanks for the warning.

I thoght it was interesting to read your thoughts on leadership and the quirks of politics. You do so in such a friendly style that is enjoyable to read. Your clever comparisons (like "Dipstick Dan") was so fun to read. This is well written and so clever. I really enjoyed it!

Thank you Michael It will probably fail to meet the grade given it is supposed to be fiction.

That sounds like a resounding NO to me, and that's what everyone should hear. I don't know anything about Australia's politics, but you write a good explanation of why I should agree with you! Good luck!

Thanks, Carol. It will probably be a failure. Its supposed to be fiction but what are we all thinking, however fractionally, about?

Hmm, interesting and missing some things. I would recommend removing the bits about America, as it has nothing to do who your nameless character voted for in his country. Then replace that will details or examples of Dan's misdeeds and their impact.
