How lovely this is! What an enchanting, educational poem! Reminds me of Buckeye Moths, I think the male waits on the ground for a female to fly by! I'm happy to have read this, now I know about these exceptional fireflies! Love. Maddy

This was an enjoyable poem, but also a learning experience for me. I had no idea there was such a thing called a Blue Ghost Firefly. Your poem is well constructed, and I learned something about "lightning bugs." Nicely told.

I never knew these existed. I happen to love fireflies and would love to see these in action.
This is a great poem you have here with good, strong rhymes and the poem flows smoothly.
You learn something new everyday and now I know about these little gems
Well done

a great little poem about the lowly firefly which is found all over the world. I never hear of the blue ghost firefly until now and the connection to the confederate graves

I love coming across poems about fireflies. I was unaware of the blue ghost fireflies, they are so beautiful and your words teaches the reader about them. They are deserving of a poem.

Lovely poem and the picture is perfect to accompany it. I have never heard of blue ghost fireflies but I would love to see them! Fireflies are beautiful without the blue cast to them but these sound amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Brenda,
A very lovely poem. I'm from the North, and we used to get sweet fireflies too, then came the dreaded Gypsy moth...massive chemical extermination.
You're so fortunate to have these insects still thriving.
Your beautiful poem and photo
are a great testament to this lovely insect.
Best wishes,
Cindy

I've never heard of these unique fireflies! The blue greenish light must be mesmerizing. Living in New England we will probably never see them. Thanks for highlighting these little beauties.

I remember collecting fireflies as a child, and so did my children and grandchildren. They were such a beautiful sight. I'd never heard of blue ones, and they sound so magical and mysterious. Thank you for sharing.

Sorry sweetie, this should have been prose. It felt as though a lot of the rhymes were forced. The story is fine, but the rhyming throws it all off.
This ghostly firefly is eagerly awaited. It's colors are unique to our area. Kids gather with their own flashlights to watch the firelies fly thither and yon. Again the story is good. But it would be better without the rhyming poetry format. My opinion only.

Thanks Karen. I thought about it, but I thought I'd let it this way.
