a great poem about a very sad and distressing event, a child facing death after birth. as a survivor of childhood bouts with death from diseases - i had everything but somehow survived to age 68

This is a very heartwarming story put into a poem. The agony and ecstasy of giving birth to a baby boy to finding out that he is malnourished and needs special care must've been terrifying and one that no one would ever want to go through again.
Thanks for warming my heart with this caring and cross-fixing tale where tragedy turns into ecstasy.
I am so happy for you!

Thank you for your very nice review. It was definitely a difficult time. He also had some other trials in his life. I'm going to write about them.

Writing is the most cathartic way possible to endure the pain of the loss of a loved one. I encourage you to write.

How emotionally difficult for you! When you just have a baby, you're going through so many hormonal changes and then to be denied being with your baby, I'd be in hysterics. You shared your story well.
Suggestion for your notes:
The hospital thought the sickness was a staff infection (staph) it's an abbreviation for staphylococcus bacteria.

Thank you for your kind review and also the tip.

Such a time of worry and stress, and your hormones from giving birth would already have been in disarray, adding to your depression and anxiety. However, it is wonderful that it ended well, and you were able to take him home, and begin your new life trogether.

This is beautifully written and it tugged at my heart strings as I was listening to the words as they were being read aloud it flows very well. When is read aloud. I have a grandson who is baby girl was born with a serious infection and spent about 15 days in the hospital before she go home. And so I am sure that they felt the same that you were feeling as you were watching your baby boy. Patricia.

This is pushing buttons on me. Because of my severe allergies as a kid, I caught everything that came down the pike. People who didn't wear gloves when they should, or use masks, could send me to the emergency room. Not a warm and nurturing place by the way. And the hospital could certainly tell what brand of germ he had with a simple blood test. They just didn't want you to sue them. Thanks for sharing a dark time. It certainly evoked feelings. I am so glad you had a good outcome. Karen

I think that is one.of the worst sorrows, a helpless little boy, your child is very unwell, I think that would plague anyone, my youngest grandson was a little like that for a couple of years early, My younger daughter's child needed a spinal tap, a painful procedure, my elder child went in with the little mite, while the younger one worried outside. A number of things the little one was afflicted with, over two years, he's seven now and very robust, a good sportsman too. Precious boys aren't they Brenda? Thanks for sharing, beautifully written, Roy blessings

Roy, thank you for your great review! This was so hard for me at that time. I was only 19 years old.

Brenda,
I'm so happy your story poem has a good ending!
It must have been terrible, as you write, to wait two long weeks before you could take him home!
What is his name?
Great uplifting story, Brenda!
Blessings to you and yours,
Cindy

When our granddaughter was born, she had to spend 6 months in ICU and finally came home a month later. What a wonderfully written poem. Best of luck with your writing! Have a great day, and God bless.

I cannot imagine what you felt, but I know the great joy that came with his release into your arms. My daughter constantly asks me why I am so "picky" with what she does and who see hangs out with. This is a concern that only a parent can relate to.
Beautiful and endearing words of love.
