Beautiful and heart wrenching. It is painful watching someone you love wither like that and you have expressed these emotions beautifully and tastefully. Not to over the top colourful, but just enough to allow us to feel the nail of your pain through our skin. I love the emotions you portrayed around the concept of time. At times making it almost human and maniacal but generous in what it has given you at the same time. You balance between the worlds of pain and suffering and appreciation and understanding nicely. It's a tightrope and you had me balancing along with you. Well done and sorry for your loss. You are doing an amazing job of keeping her memory alive in your work. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing.

    Hi Todd!
Thank you so much! I really wanted to artfully capture the tightrope I was dancing on, and it sounds like I was successful. She was something very special, and the mix of emotions the experience gave us was something I doubt I'll ever forget.

Thank you for your kind words and for yet again taking the time to read my work and leave a review.

    Cheers,
    Keely

This poem is a gift really to the reader. Perhaps it is a little unusual to say that about a poem but this poem is filled with wisdom, joy and most of all love- large servings of love- for a precious great grandmother. Despite the sadness of the passing of this precious great grandmother, love flows from these poetic lines.

    Hi Zanya!
First off, I just want to say, I think your name is beautiful! I've always loved the name Zanya.

I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed my poem! I'm also glad to hear you got wisdom, joy, and love from the poem. I wanted to celebrate my Nana and my love for her, as well as the wisdom I earned from experiencing her pain and journey, and I was honestly kind of worried the love and wisdom wouldn't be as apparent as I would have liked. I'm happy to hear that wasn't the case!

Thank you for taking the time to read my poem and for leaving such a nice review! I appreciate it!🖤

This is a beautiful tribute that portrayed your great grandmother in a positive light. You left me with the feeling that her memories lived on through you. Very poignant, and bittersweet.

What a wonderful story about someone you clearly loved so much. I went through Alzheimer's with my uncle as well and this is so much like his story. Thank you so much

    Hi,
I'm so glad you liked my poem and that it touched you. I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. I think Alzheimer's is one of the cruelest diseases out there. It's tragic in a way that can't easily be captured into words. I tried my best to do that in this poem, but I'm not sure how successful I was.

Thank you again for taking the time to read my poem and for leaving such a nice review. 🖤
