I really like this, it ranks with the story, of men and mice, sometimes the futility of life, the thought that despite our good intentions, things can countermand those things, an excellently written verse, good flow, theme, and a great lesson, great poem my friend, well done, good luck, blessings Roy,

Interesting. I've never looked at a lawn like that. :) When I'm out mowing our lawn and the temperature is in the triple digits, my only thought is to finish and get something cold to drink. Now, with your unusual perspective, I see my lawn in a different light. Nice work. Good luck in the contest and have a great week. Stay well.

Hello Anon
This is excellent; weed steed, indeed.
It is a wonderful sustained metaphor (if you want to look at it that way) and an off-beat imagining of the other world of another type of life. Uplifting? Yes, its own way, nature trumping the machine. Walt Whitman did well with Leaves of Grass, why not Bil...erm, whoever (sorry, but your style is distinctive, it is difficult to pretend).
Anyway, Doris, I wish you well in your contest. This is a great piece.
cheers

This is so funny. The grass is oppressed! Love your sense of humor. he way you describe the mower's temporary halt as a potential victory for nature was terrific. The final lines beautifully share sense of nature's enduring spirit. Well done!
