"I stand alone at the edge of the woods, plucking dew kissed berries" sounds like a haiku, beautiful imagery.

"Rachelle has been summoned to [ ] big house.) [the]

It sounds like your character is a little stressed out. I can't blame her, it's such a huge change of life style.

Well done, Gretchen.

I liked the word 'Newyorkitude' seeing it for the first time.Rachel seems to have upset some apple cart ..Anyway all the best for 'safe' return .Did you really wear shorts while you were there?

This was wonderful, Gretchen. So many truths here and so much I can identify with. I loved your quote about "bless your heart" and the many meanings it has. Never really heard that much until moving to NC. I grew up in NY, not far from where Rachelle lives and left when I was 21 for Michigan where I became a mid-westerner for 40 years. Then we moved here to NC for the last 10.

There is absolutely a NewYorkitude, which you can often see in drivers too, that is very different from folks down here in the south.

I loved this statement too:

"People are different. As a writer, that knowledge puts a lot of possibilities out there. It's an endless source of materials. Being smack dab in the middle is a very different problem. Should you assimilate or remain your original self? That's something to think about."

That's a real good question, which I know I would struggle with too.

I can also understand your need to write each day. I feel like my day is incomplete or I've wasted it if I haven't spent some time writing, even if it's just reviews or emails, but the best days are those which involve working on fiction.

Thank you, Jim. I'm not sure the real me would do as well as the fictional me is doing. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Gretchen

Hello Gretchen,
am I led to believe that you wore shorts on an Amish farm? I wonder how that would be received? It looks like Rachelle opened a can of worms and you may have an extra passenger along for the ride when you leave. I'm sure she was relieved when you opened the door.
So, Bless Your Heart doesn't really mean that? All the time I spent in Charleston hearing that and I was not really being blessed? I was so naive, having come from Ohio, I just thought everyone was just nice. Now I don't know what to think. Thanks a lot gal!!
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Lol. Bless your heart can mean that, but nine times out of ten it's worse. This was a very nice review. Gretchen

Lol. Well, I'm glad that Gretchen got time to write and soothe her mind in the middle of a very tense situation. I can appreciate the many meanings of "bless your heart" as I heard it often with different tones of voice in the six years I lived in Texas.

Thank you. Bless your heart is a chameleon phrase that's for sure. I appreciate your kind review. Gretchen8

well, my first surprise was your use of the word, Naughty. I know I don't know you, but it just seemed such an un-Gretchen word.
Next, you had me laughing out loud at "the Amish ain't all corn cobs and smiles." muy funny!
And lastly, As I spent all my growing up years in Georgia, and even now, here in Texas, I still say, "Bless your heart." It is a marvelous "hmmm" word.
Oh, I did think, by your sub-title of this chapter up at the top, that aftermath would mean that this might be the last chapter; that somehow
Yall would leave, or be at the point of leaving.
It was a good time out for thinking chapter.

The thing that makes this series special is that Rachelle writes about her experiences, and you write about your reflections, feelings, and thoughts based on your experiences. As a writer, you include descriptions and feelings we all can relate to, and you do all this in an amusing and entertaining way.

Your caressing the stately Bic pen - only a writer could appreciate that line. I get it - I appreciate it!

Writing is the answer to so many of our problems; I once had a psychologist tell me to write when I was stressed or anxious. It works, and if we are passionate about it, it becomes a wonderful story to share.

I feel as though Rachelle is bringing the story in this co-write, and you are bringing the backstory.

I've enjoyed the story from both sides - unique and fulfilling as a reader.

Rachelle is very much in the lead on this project. And I am very okay with this. She has a vision and I'm in it for the ride. Lol. Thank you so much. Gretchen

If writing is "naughty" then why not write all the time?

"corn cobs" should be corncobs.

"summoned to big house" should be summoned to the big house.

Should be a line space between "different" and "As a writer."

It is funny that you mention meat affecting the brain as Charles Dickens also mentioned this in his book Oliver Twist when he said that too much meat causes bad behaviour in children! Ha ha ha. You are right when you say that all folk are the same, we are all just trying to get along in life and we set ourselves rules to live by that we think enhance our lives. I enjoyed your post Gretchen, love Dolly x x x

Thank you, Dolly. I do get weird and disturbing dreams when I eat a lot of meat day after day. It's just trying to retain your individuality without sticking out too much. Lol. Middle school all over again. Thank you so much. Gretchen
