I sure am glad to be back to Miranda and her surrounding characters. I don't think anyone could have thought them up unless they had witnessed people to pattern them after. People so many of us can relate to. And sentences that such statements as this: "A well is deep, the ocean is deep. A conversation with a guy who is high as a kite is a waste of time."
Thanks for sharing.

After I read this I can see Miranda's personality plainly as if I know her. You have a way with words for this story to seem so real to me. Miranda is tough as nails and she's ready to fight for the son she has raised and loved. Blood don't mean nothing it's the love you feel for the other person. Great writing.

I agree. Mother and child bonds can be formed without blood relation. Thank you for this. Gretchen

I love the way you're portraying your characters, Gretchen. We get a good glimpse of the many facets of Miranda in this chapter. Not only is she a "badass" but she has a very sensitive side to her as she feels great compassion for Waylon. And Waylon, though being 17 and on the verge of being an adult, is emotionally like a little boy, trying to understand why his dad left him. And Dougie just seems like a jerk so far.

Dougie is your typical ass who peaked in high school and has decided to look and act like he's still 18. Thank you so much. Miranda is my alter ego. I feel like her on the inside but can't deal with things as colorfully. Lol. I appreciate this awesome rating and review. Gretchen

This is very well written and it flows very well when it is written loud. I enjoyed very much listening to it and I wish you the very best with all of your writing. Your writing is excellent. Your sentence structure and your paragraph are all very good Patricia.

Hello Gretchen,
to be a kid again in this day and age would be awful. To have the added burden of a father that is so irresponsible would be almost unbearable. I wonder how close to home this comes for so many kids in this country. Well done gal.
Blessings,
Tom

I had two good parents. I was lucky. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Thank you for this awesome review. Gretchen

Definitely it hurts worse! It's clear that Miranda loves Waylon much more than the related-by-blood father. But how would one show that to the court? Cute exchange of dialogue with Aaron and Waylon.
Now to uncover the mystery of why that teacher hates Waylon...maybe related to Dougie somehow?
on that guys face. (guy's)

Thank you so much. Dougie is pivotal in this. He and the teacher do have a vague past. But Dougie has forgotten about Tomlin. That will be revealed later. I appreciate this nice review and the member cent bump. Gretchen

It's a pretty hard thing for a kid to face, that his own flesh and blood walked out on him, I must admit, I don't think I could do that to the very people who depend on you the most, it takes character to live in this broken world, as Miranda knows, great story, I relate to Miranda, blessings You Gretchen, Roy

Thank you so much. I couldn't leave my family. If I had to, it wouldn't be by choice. I relate to her too. Gretchen

My heart goes out to Waylon. I want to scratch Dougie's eyes out myself.
This is another good write.
He reaches for the remote and I take it out of his hands. (remote, you need the comma because you switched subject from 'He' to 'I')
He pulls his phone out of his pocket and I see him looking for missed calls. (pocket, same as before)
He looks over at me and I hate what I see (me, again switched subjects)

I feel so sorry for Waylon, or any child that suffers the feeling of being rejected by a parent. There are load around. But Miranda has no idea what his father wants, it's all guess work at the moment. I'm hoping both will prepare themselves against another one of Dougie's tricks. Loving this, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

I'm sure she is relieved she got that news our to Waylon. She doesn't know the news will affect him. He is likely relieved that his dad isn't dead. Miranda is a strong personality that doesn't being pushed around. I'm sure Waylon would be nervous about her talking to his teacher.

I'd be nervous if I were him too. She will go in nice, until she hits a snag in communication, plus the meeting is at her former mother in laws school. So, that's always a fun encounter. Thank you so much. Gretchen
