Another fine poem, Gypsy.....and one I totally can relate to, although sometimes it hard to agree with the ending. I just know I'm better off for now

Hmm, not what I want, but what I need. That line causes me to pause and seriously think about its meaning. If we allow God to be part of our lives, He will insure we get what we need. This poem is one of your best.

I love how the mind numbing hurt of losing your love seems to resolve itself by the end. You cannot change the past. You can change things by moving on. This was a very therapeutic poem. Thank you for sharing it. Gretchen

This is true. And what can feel like a loss at one point in your life can, later on, feel like a bullet you missed. That's when you know you're fully healed. Nicely done. It's sad when one person falls out of love in a relationship and it takes a while to overcome what feels like a tragedy but maybe there is a reason and something one needs to learn so in that case they would get what they need rather than what they want.

It's often in the "eventide" that these feelings are more powerful in our spirits. I am glad that the narrator, though grieving the unhappy past relationship, still knows that she's content with life even without the unfaithful man.
