I enjoyed reading this contest entry. It flowed smoothly and I enjoyed reading. Good luck with the contest.

But I knew that that little boy would be alright. (You can omit a 'that' if you need it for syllable count change the second one to 'the')

You gave a great poetic account of your brave monkey business at the zoo. I do love a poem that tells a story and you did this very well adding in a dash of humour. Well done.

This poem is very hilarious and painted an act of bravery. Creativity and imagination become one in this poem. Consider reviewing the syllable count and the pace to improve the flow. Well done, dear S.M., and good luck in the contest.

Haha, this made me laugh about your reasons for the zoo not being much fun anymore.
About the rhyming contest. The flow is a little bit uneven, detracting from the rhyming of the piece.
But overall this is humorous and fun to read.
The picture is a great choice for this and it adds to the humorous nature of the poem.
Thanks for the laughs.
Jesse

Oh wow!!! What a hero you were, S.M. I admire the way you just reacted without thinking and held onto the monkey until help could come. And, a free pass for a year!! Of course, now you're not so sure you want to go.

Well written poem that flowed so well it seemed like prose. Your rhythm and rhyme were spot on.

Hugs,
Rhonda

Monkeys are pretty clever problem solvers. Zoos are wonderful, but captivity is not. All the animals may long for their original homes. This is an excellent piece you have delivered.
God bless,
Steve

Steve I am thankful for your review and comments. I agree with you that all the animals would want to be in their own natural environment. But if it were not for the zoos some of would not really see how wonderful and beautiful God's creatures are. God bless you also.

Zoos can be a fun and entertaining experience... but a lit of the times it's on the sad side. Are those animals really happy and content in their caged environments? Even if not csged, is their areas to roam sufficient and safe?
Your words definitely bring these questions to the forefront. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

This poem, A Stroll Through the Zoo, presented with four AABB-rhymed quatrains, presents either a fictional or more terribly an actual monkey scare in the zoo. It would really put me off my zoo going.

I enjoyed your delightful story in a poem describing courage and bravery. It sounds as though the zookeepers were not vigilant in recognizing dangers to the animals or the guests frequenting the zoo. This is a very imaginative story. Best wishes in the contest.

That poor monkey, he made his escape, but he prevailed because he was caught again, but let's face it he would never have made it if he had made it into the wide world. Wrtitten in a slightly varied meter in sabbath rhyming, great theme and language, well done, blessings Roy
