You have such a lovely sense of humor, even in your end notes. I enjoyed the your frustration with the rooster, and how neatly you wrapped it up with the line, "I am once again reminded how I am not in a room at the Hilton."

I love the way you contrast yourself from Rachelle, particularly in the line, "She smiles brightly, like all is right with the world. The name Pollyanna comes to mind."

Separately, I thoroughly enjoyed your beautiful and sensitive descriptions, from, "We ... step out into the cool purple and pink shadows of the early morning," to "Music is her life. She sings without fear and hears music in every sound of nature," and "I listen to her as she speaks and hear the writer in her, tiny details that are like flourishes on an unwritten page." You have a wonderful way with words, and I'm greatly enjoying the story.

So very funny, and it blends right into Rachelle's accounting of this episode. I guess the rooster's job is not admired and it is seen merely as an intrusion into any form of normalcy that might still exist. This moment of peril is where Rachelle left us too. You are doing a graet job with this story.

Thank you, Bill. We have figured out a good system. She posts her chapter and I fill in the blanks. Lol. I do appreciate the awesome and encouraging review. Gretchen

Hello Gretchen,
that was a nice addition with the cell phone and not being able to let your husband know your situation. I'm sure I'd be panicking if I were him. I'm really enjoying reading this story from both of you gal's perspective. It will be interesting to see what happens with the stampeding horses. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

I have no idea what's going to happen. I wait for Rachelle's lead. She prepares during the week and (only in writing) I am a fly by the seat of your pants gal. Thank you for this. Gretchen

You are sharp gal. I used to think I had a good imagination, but I don't think I could come up with anything near as good as some of the stuff I'm reading.

Loved your fun descriptions and I really liked "Don't think they have a spare racehorse for their Amish ambulance." That both of your survived that long in Amish country shows quite the strength. Rachelle should be able to sing to the horse and get it to calm down...maybe?

Let's hope she is the horse whisperer. Lol. I know I'm not. Thank you for this. Gretchen

I am glad that no horses, animals ,flowers or roosters were hurt in the making of this chapter. The equestrian adventure would go without much calamity .Ihope..

well you certainly know how to leave us hanging in suspense.
Is Rachelle going to swing up onto the bareback of the horse and bring him back, or are you going to grab his harness? Stay tuned for another exciting episode.
Your details of waking up are priceless.
Bated breath.

I am happy to hear no horses, flowers, or roosters were hurt in the making. This was the story I thought I was reading when I read The Coyote Boys, lol. What an excellent addition to this book you've delivered, Gretchen. I love that the rooster is their alarm clock and found humor in it not being yours, lol.
God bless,
Steve

Funny enough, I did live next door to a time challenged rooster. Crowed in mid afternoon. Slept in, I guess. Lol. Thank you for this. Gretchen

A rooster that slept in, now that's funny. My pleasure, young lady.

I can remember the days of working for a boss, setting my alarm wat too early to actually get up out of bed, so I could press the nine minute snooze but so I could enjoy the luxury of a bit of a sleep in in the mornings, heh heh, well done, I enjoyed this post Gretchen, blessings Roy

Not really knowing the other you speak of in your story, there isn't too much I can say. But having read your work for a long time, I sort of know what to expect from you. Well, close as most any stranger can. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I love this line: I am being assaulted with the nails on chalkboard anthem of an over zealous rooster - I can hear it!

"the little spinning thing just keeps spinning" is exactly how I describe that phenomenon, although I'm sure there's a technically correct word for the spinning thing.

This is a well-told story that mirrors Rachelle's and I've enjoyed reading both. Can't wait to read the next chapters from you ladies.

I believe it's called buffering. But I just call it the spinner. Thank you for this awesome review and the extra star. So glad you enjoyed this. Gretchen
