I think there's more to Dewey than Huck realises, he's not going to take what his father gives out much longer, and who could blame him? And he's sensible regarding Huck and his feelings for Miss Lynn. We already know how their father is like. Another great chapter, Gretchen. I'm on catch up! I've been away having a reunion with all my family. It was amazing. :) Sandra xxx

That sounds awesome. Always good to see family. But glad to have you back. Yes, you are exactly right. There is more to Dewey. Thank you for this. How are things going with Maddie and Gareth? Gretchen

I was wandering what to write first. The sequal to George and Jake, or Maddie and Garrik. I think Maddie will be first. I'm just going to write a few more Gerone Giraffe first.

I absolutely love this story of yours, I'm just worried that Dewey will end up in trouble. xxx

As much as I enjoyed Maddi's story, I was totally blown away by George and Jake. But, I'm partial to adventure stories. Their personalities were so deep.

I haven't absolutely decided which to write first. I have stories in my head for both books. I'll see which flows first. Thanks, my friend. I'm glad you liked my boys. xxxx

I think Dewey is smart eventhough he was hid in the head.... and wise too. Part of me wishes he did kill his father but I shouldn't wish that. He is such a horrible person.

I enjoyed this chapter as much as all the previous ones. You are a wonderful story teller.

I loved this, Gretchen. It was great how Dewey got in the last word against Huck, with an unassailable rejoinder.

It was also interesting how Huck's little prank affected Dewey so and made Huck think and worry about the coming showdown between his brother and father. If he can't stand a little teasing from his brother, how is he going to withstand the wrath and guile of his father? You're building up the suspense of this coming confrontation very well.

I also liked how Dewey is the one to inform Huck of what's going on between his father and his paramour. These brothers are wonderfully interesting characters.

I sure needed a break from my unpacking. I swear to you the unpacked boxes doubled while I was asleep.
I have found a few things I forgot I had. That's always nice. Well, back to the grindstone. Karen :-)

I hate packing and unpacking. Only when unpacking do I realize what I should have donated to the thrift store. Lol. Good luck and God speed. Gretchen

I have been pulling out more stuff to donate. I haven't cried though so that is good. Karen

Hello Gretchen,
it sounds like Dewey isn't totally addle brained. He seems to understand the way it was in the south at the time between the races. I'm thoroughly enjoying this story gal. Keep up the good work.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Another wonderful and well written chapter, but Dewey is becoming more and more focused on revenge and killing his father, while Huck is becoming more and more convinced about his feelings for Miss Lynn. It will reach boiling point soon, and won't be pretty. I am curious as to their mother's secret which her her husband is using to keep her submissive and under his control. Fine writing.

Mother has several secrets. I think in families like this, secrets are the norm. Thank you for this. Gretchen

It seems both boys are suffering from feelings they can't help, but really are difficult to deal when they are more forbidden to engage them, but then, that's maturity, there's lots of things we would like to do, but the consequences are expensive, beautifully written Gretchen, blessings Roy

Dewey seems to be getting his brain working again. He knows what he wants and seems to have a plan. Huck wants to love Miss Lynn because she is a good person. Both of them have made less than great choices. I wonder what their mother's secret is.

The secret will come out. Dewey remembers what happened. And Huck thinks Miss Lynn is his savior. Thank you for this. Gretchen

I know all of this is going to come to a head, and it's not going to be good when it does. Dewey wants to kill his dad, and Huck's in love with Miss Lynn. In the society they live in nothing good can come of it. I sure hope it does. You're doing a good job writing.
