This scene is beautifully written. I think you have a great mix of humor and some somber reflection. The interactions between the characters feel genuine. The way you weave in the backstory through their conversations, especially Taya's connection to the orphanage and her farewell to Max, adds to the story so well. Great job. This was so enjoyable.

Still hanging on breathlessly for what is to come next. That was a sweet and melancholy farewell to Max, and helped define her feelings for Demi. One small hiccup:
"judging by there faces it doesn't" should be "their".
