Once you said Rachelle lost a hat and was still laughing, your story lost any sense of believability! (Just kidding, but I know Rachelle takes her hats very seriously!)
In fact, your characters are charming and believable, and the sweetness of the characters just adds to the humor of your panicking at the man with the scythe, and expecting to be the first victim when they turn your story into a horror movie.
I'm enjoying your and Rachelle's stories, and will continue reading them as they're posted.

I mean, how fast is this buggy moving? You could leap to your death. Not 2 miles an hour, for sure. Maybe a scraped knee, lol. Rachelle's face is planted in the mud; I can visualize all this perfectly. What great fun this was to read.
God bless,
Steve

Thank you. At sixty-three I don't bounce. Lol. Thank you for this awesome review. Gretchen

Me neither, lol. It's a fun story.

This continues to amuse me. Rachelle does make an entrance and her laughter permits their hosts to laugh. The guy with the scythe is another matter as you don't cut any crop in the rain.

Maybe he was sharpening it. Lol. I'm sure he came out to investigate the laughter. Thank you for this nice review. Gretchen

Oh my word Gretchen,
this was fabulous! I can see the whole scene played out before me. Your fear of the guy with the scythe reminds me of when I was transferred from Key West to Charleston South Carolina in the early seventies. Before we moved, I had watched the movie Deliverance, and was scared to death to go hunting or fishing without my shotgun. I had a pair of military issue green coveralls and I bought myself a straw hat, hoping if I ran into a still in the woods, I might be able to pass myself off as a local. This was great gal. Well done.
Have a blessed evening.

Lol. As catchy as banjo music is, it sends a shiver up my spine, so I get it. I'm glad you enjoyed this. And thank you for the extra star. Gretchen

A great new chapter to this wonderful story. I love the Amish. sadly their doctrines are basically Old Testament but I have enjoyed a few Amish movies. Have you seen the series including a part called "The Shunning?" A 3 part series about a girl born on the English side but given up to an Amish couple at birth.

I don't know much about them so I'm learning as I go. I just remember Witness with Harrison Ford. Thank you for this awesome review and the extra star. Gretchen

Oh, Gretchen, this is so funny. I love your self-deprecating humor as you freely admit you are directionally challenged, scent-challenged, a plain dresser, reticent, and a nervous Nelly about men with scythes.
You're full of very apt observations too like, "quicker than a politician before a Senate commission" and "there is nothing worse than rambling about things that no one wants to hear. "
I'm sure I would have cracked up too to see Rachelle's face plant. There's just something humorous about seeing people fall down.
I loved this! - Jim

Hahaha... your side of the story is as funny as Rachelle's side. You two make a wonderful and amusing pair.
I just watched the movie,"witness", starring Harrison Ford. I've watched it a dozen times and it never gets old. You get a good sense of what Amish are like. You two have captured it well thus far.
Well done!

A man with a scythe coming out of the barn in the middle of a thunderstorm is never a good thing and especially since it's taking place in a story that involves you two renegades. Let's see how much more trouble you can get yourself into.
