I agree with your viewpoint. I have a bone to pick. Everyone should vote in the contests. People complain about unfair selection, and most of them did not vote! Example. I once had a poem which garnered lots of attention. I had no points on it, but I got a lot of reviews. But on the contest only 12 people voted, and only 2 for me! That is just sad. I try to vote everyday. At least one contest.:-)

I know I've had my ups and downs on this site and with writing in general. It seems that no one likes poetry and prose like a writer and then we sometimes devour ourselves. Sadly so.
I try very hard to write what's in my heart and let the chips fall where they will. Thank you so very much for taking the time to go back and read and then rate this: Welcome to the FanStorian family."

I try to find things that need points, those ribbons are pretty. Not cash, but oh well.

That was insightful. Thanks.
Now I am full of questions:
Just 2 quick ones.
1. I have no clue about copywriting. Why do I need this? I found this site quite by accident (writer's digest actually). I was not seriously thinking of publishing anything but who knows.
2. Can I print my stories from fanstory? I have edited or added pictures and want my own copy on my computer so I can do something with it later.
I just figured out how to vote....no clue yet about creating a contest. Help? Esther

Hey Esther, I want to thank you so very much for reading and also rating: "Welcome to the FanStorian Family". I'm glad to know that it was helpful to you.
All IMPACTFUL writers create with the hope of:
Making a Meaningful Difference
-not just-
Mouthing a Meaningless Declaration.
In answer to your two questions I may have to send as a two-part answer. I want to copy something and get here but if I leave my response to you it will all disappear and I'll have to do it all over again. I don't wanna do that. lol
In answer to number 2.
Yes, you can print from FanStory. On the bottom of your post there are a few buttons, I think for three or four. One of them says: "Copy this page". Click on this button, then you can push print on your computer. Frankly it's not the prettiest way of doing it but it definitely documents what you have posted.

Thanks. You helped.

This is a helpful and friendly "Welcome aboard" salutation for the newcomers as well as some who have been pinballing on the site for some time and getting nowhere.

Wow, you are THOROUGH!! And yet, it was not presented in a way that was dry or uninteresting, giving that you bestowed that much information in one post.
You remained upbeat and helpful, encouraging and candid. Where the heck was this perfect and helpful post when I began here?!! Wonderful work. This should be page one (and actually ONLY) of the FS Handbook!!
Terrific work, Mystery Writer. xo

Thank you so much Rochelle for that fantastic review that flatters me tremendously, but I can take it, and I love it. I agree with you and I believe it to be one of the most fantastic things ever written on FanStory. I think I should probably write my next piece on arrogance, self importance, haughtiness, self aggrandizement and other such trivia that I know nothing about! L O L Thank you so much for the five stars that you gave me. I know this is Friday night and I believe some people are running out of them. (That might explain the rash of four stars.) (in case you're wondering, not really I'm kidding!)
-
Where do you live? It's Saturday night here in the US!! Hubrisville, your obvious hometown, must be on the other side of the International Date Line?? (Hahahaha. I'm just teasing you, Mystery Writer.) xo
-
Oh my goodness! We've been hearing about Alzheimer's lately haven't we? I do live in the good old USA and it is Saturday night here as well sorry about that. I wish I could tell you that was the dumbest thing I've ever said. (I also wish it was the dumbest thing I'd said today.)
-
We'll share a room in the ward. How's that?
-
It's a deal, Roomie!
-
Do you snore, though?
-
Or sleep naked?

I wish there had been such a post to read when I joined FanStory four years ago. I read rules and descriptions over and over, and still didn't understand some things. However, I appreciated receiving reviews for my short stories. Then I tried a poem which brought me my first four star review.
In this welcome address, you've included all of the important things to consider. This should be required reading for all new members. I wish you the best in the contest.

Thank you so very much for for your taking the time to read and rate my contest submission. Thank you for the five beautiful stars. When it comes to writing, as in other things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You mentioned getting your first four-star review and I have received a four star review for this piece. I loved what you said: "This should be required reading for all new members." Thanks

So good to read actual and practical advice from a veteran Fanstorian like you! I really think the instructions given should have your words. And unfortunately, the rating system isn't quite helpful Hope this does well in the contest!
Was a little confused by:
Don't get discouraged, some will and you do! (some will like your work and you already do?) I needed a little more info here.
P.S.S. (P.P.S.) abbreviation for post postscript

Thank you very, very much for reading and reviewing. I do believe I left that one section hanging. I had said in the sentence before that not everybody would love your work. I meant it as a continuation to say will love your work and you do love your work. Thank you for the correction on PPS. I didn?t know and now I do. See? This thing does have the benefit of friends helping friends. Thank you so very much.
-
You're most welcome! I don't think they teach the Latin words that we abbreviate these days. And Mr. Autocorrect doesn't help. 😊
-
I have made the correction and I do believe it?s clear now. And that?s your fault.
L O L.
-
Appreciate your edits to make it more understandable to me! It probably was fine to others.
-
I'm positive that you incentivized me to make it clear for everyone and therefore better. That's the privilege that we have here to help each other. And you definitely helped me. Again I say thank you.

A virtual six for your wise words of insight and kind, welcoming voice across the FanStory pages. All is so needed and very much appreciated. I voted for you too because this was the best one per the contest. Mission accomplished, Mystery Writer. Wishing you all the best today as always and my very best wishes in the voting.

I want to thank you so very much Sally for both reading and rating my piece concerning welcoming people to FanStory. I appreciate your words of encouragement, and I have been hardened by the number of people who have bookmarked this writing. Thanks also for the "six" stars that you gave me.
-
Most welcome! I dearly hope this wins in the contest. It's so deserving. Fingers crossed!

This is a positive and encouraging summary that will be very helpful for new fanstorians. I like that it emphasizes participation in all aspects to get the most out of the experience. Nicely done!

Wow, this was great. I like how you clearly enumerated all the salient points you made for new members who have just joined the site. I agree with practically all of them, especially the use of legible fonts. It irks me whenever I come across font styles--extreme cursives, etc.--that compels me to strain in order to read. Actually, I usually just skip these.

The system is rigged. You're probably going to win because of my review. See how it 'really' works? LOL
-
Well, it may be rigged, I guess. I have no idea how to get things rigged in my favor. But if you have figured it out and you just tipped it to me, thank you very very much.

When identities are revealed we?ll have to get together and You can help me to win stuff in the to win contests in the future. L. O. L.
