Hello Gretchen,
I can see trouble brewing. How old is Huck? Of course age doesn't matter when it comes to the issue of love I suppose. I've had many a crush on an older woman when I was a young lad- all to no avail of course. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Huck is sixteen. Dewey a year or so older. I would think Miss Lynn is in her late twenties or early thirties. She is nice to Huck and makes him feel special and that's all it takes sometimes. Thank you so much. Gretchen

A Great character development of Dewey and Huck and dialog.

Miss Lynn sounds like a very pretty and kind lady.

Their father sounds like a horrible racist.

The Coyote Boys book is another well written story. I can't wait for the next one.

You do have a lot of writing up at Fanstory and I am slow getting reviewing done. I hope Huck doesn't set his heart of Miss Lynn because his father will be a real problem. That man might even hurt the girl.

His father is definitely going to be a problem, but not the only problem. Thank you so much. Gretchen

Huck is feeling those first stirrings within himself, these crushes are something one has when young, they pass with time, when one understands them, it depends on the boy I guess, most of the time, preoccupation with sport as with me helps, well done Gretchen, love your stories, blessings Roy

Thank you. I think Huck fell in love with her kindness. She's never judged him. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Did I miss something? Isn't Miss Lynn married or did I just assume she is? I really like this story, a lot. You're doing a great job with this.

I crouch down next to the little boy. (I crouch beside the little boy.)

Now I'm worried about Huck, I'm sure his dad will find out, and then all hell will be let loose. Poor Dewey, he can't help it, his father is a nut case, and should be locked up. But, I can see Dewey talking about it. I don't know what year this was set in, that could make a difference to the attitude of white's and blacks. This was another great chapter, Gretchen, I'm looking forward to the next one. :)) Sandra xx

Let's put it this way. It's after 1945 but before 1960. Before civil rights. Not a good time to be black. Thank you for this wonderfully detailed review. Gretchen

Huck is going through that in between phase -Dewey teasing him about it very cute. At least the boys did a good job of catching a huge fish...I am keen to read the next..

I expect Dewey will inadvertently let the father know about Huck's infatuation with Miss Lynn. This may trigger a showdown with his violent dad. You are excellent at making your characters real and relatable. Looking forward to more. Well done.

Thank you, Wendy. Unfortunately, Huck's father is about the worse. But every story needs a villain and Matthew Strait is villain enough for two stories. Appreciate this nice review. Gretchen

I can imagine trouble is going to errupt when Huck father sees his son is interested in a color woman. Huck does seem to be extremely smart although the story is told through his eyes. I known people like those in this story.

Huck is intuitive but not book smart. His father would attack anything Huck loves. No joy around the father. Thank you so much. Gretchen
