Hi Steve,
This is a good short love poem which reminds us that true love and true beauty comes from within. It takes age to find this wisdom.
Congrats on placing second in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a great rest of the day and a good upcoming week.

Thanks, Joan.
I'm rather fond of this wee poem since it's very appropriate as Anne and I approach our Golden Wedding in three weeks time.

You're welcome, Steve.
Congrats on your 50th. So the poem is autobiographical. My husband Steve and I just celebrated our 38th.

Hi, Valda. Thanks for the thoughtful review. Anne and I are celebrating 50 years of marriage in four weeks. This seems appropriate.

Congrats and I hope you have many more together.

I can relate! haha. We are lucky. Your poem beautifully shares aging with grace but holding onto the inner beauty of our partner. How you share the contrast between the fading physical attribute and the timeless warmth of the heart is touching.

Thanks, Michael. It's funny how outer beauty diminishes in importance as the years pass. My wife and I are celebrating our Golden Anniversary in a few weeks.

I love the sentiment in your poem and the correlation between golden hair and treasure. I also like the use of 'gleams' and 'shines'. A great piece for the contest.

Thanks, Faith.
Yes, I tinkered with this to get the extended metaphor with gold, gleams, treasure. Well done for spotting my poetic craft!

Author,
This is a lovely poem of someone who sees love through beautiful eyes and a loving heart. A person may grow older, have a few more grays, but they can still be beautiful.
Great poem,
Cindy

Hi, Cindy. Thanks for the fine review.
My wife and I are celebrating fifty years of marriage in four weeks time, so neither of us can lay claim to outer beauty any longer!

You?re welcome. Congratulations on the milestone anniversary! My parents celebrated 64 years.
Through dementia and physical ailments, they were still very much in love.
Wonderful poem. Will you have a big party for your day?

We're doing our own thing first, taking the dog and doing a road trip for a couple of weeks to explore a few of New Zealand's beaches that neither of us have seen before. We'll be back just in time for the big day and will have a fairly modest lunch party at a nearby place where friends and family can come to share if they want to.

It sounds like it will be a nice day for you. I would love to visit New Zealand and Australia. I hear they?re beautiful places; they?re on my bucket list ( which for me means I?ll probably kick the bucket before I get to see their splendor. lol, I really hope not.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

This touches on the years together that have dulled sharp edges of dissent and mellowed into tolerance and affection. Once, a TV commercial showed an elderly couple strolling down a park like path, hand in hand. They were overtaken by a youthful pair, also hand in hand. They exchanged smiles and the young ones, at their faster pace, walked past as the elders appreciated their moment together.

Thank you!
I think you have described me and my wife quite well. Golden Anniversary in 4 weeks time.

You're a smooth-talking bastard, Steve! But it's true, the golden years, (or should they be called the silver years?) leave us with a collection of memories and a love grown strong over the years that are rarer than any material treasure.

Thanks, Tony.
This wasn't specifically written for our Golden Anniversary (in four-weeks time) but I guess it was at the back of my mind.

A beautiful thought expressed in this 5-7-7-poem. The outward signs of aging matter little if the love is still strong.
Beautiful imagery throughout, and the perfect picture.
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks, Nancy. My wife and I celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary in four weeks time and we're off to the beach - several beaches actually. I doubt we'll be dressed up quite like the two in the artwork, but you get the idea!

This is a beautifully crafted piece, my friend, accompanied by stunning artwork. Who doesn't like the beach? Wisdom and true love come to mind here. Best of luck in the votes.
God bless,
