This certainly sounds full of bustling life and somewhere I should like to visit. It's fluently written with excellent imagery and descriptive detail. I particularly like: Smiles are a universal language. Your presentation is also excellent. I'm now wondering where it is because you refer to British English:) Good luck! Debbie

You would love it, Debbie! (I'll tell you after the voting finishes where it is. Lol. You can plan a little visit!) Many thanks for this lovely review.

Well, what a JOB you have done here, describing your "sense of place!" It is so excellent, I am now talking with an Aussie accent and will be telling my friends about my lovely day trip vacation!
Best of luck in the contest - and lucky you that you have such a gorgeous retreat as part of your real life! Thank you for sharing it!

Lol. Now, how do you know this is in Australia? Thank you so much. Just arrived back five minutes ago from four days there. Wait till you see my photos. I'll just have to write something to accompany them. Thanks for your good wishes!!

Your take on this topic provided the reader with a very tranquil location, one that provided safety, beauty, a sense of camaraderie, belonging, and comfort. You make one want to visit, and perhaps never leave.

Thank you so much Thesis. It would definitely be a lovely place to live - so long as it remained unspoiled by too many visitors.

This sounds a lovely place though I was imagining my dogs who tend to bristle if they see a dog whose whiskers they don't like the set of. It sounds a warm and welcoming place quite the antidote to where I live where we're embarking on winter.

We too are heading for winter but have a long weekend coming up, and it?s our wedding anniversary so we are having a few days away - but won?t be swimming! Thank you for a super review.

Although I was born in England and have visited there several times, I live in Australia. I loved this, a place where peace reigns, would indeed be a place to visit, my experience of England, although I swam at New Brighton as a boy, I never ventured in the sea as a man in England, our waters are warmer, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Now I am trying to work out where this is because it sounds like my kind of place.
Great description, brought the place to life for me.
Not really sure this is a 'story' as such, but you nailed the description. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you very much for reviewing. (I took it as descriptive prose as distinct from a poem as the prompt emphasis was on description of a place rather than any sort of action. We?ll see. I hope that?s what they meant.) Many thanks.

It's a difficult one, but I think you are right. When the contest is over, if this is in the UK please tell me where it is. I have a few guesses but won't compromise your anonymity until the vote.

Keep guessing! Lol. It?s a very tiny place.

Hi
This looks like a good entry for the contest. Good luck with that.!
You used a lot of pleasant imagery in this story. Utopia is what you've created. Complete with dogs. Hey! What happened to the cats? They stayed home, I guess. Not as people friendly as dogs.
Just kidding. I did enjoy reading this
Did you mean for accommodation to be plural?
" but tourists from all the neighbouring beach accommodation, "
Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Pam, thanks so much for the lovely review. I am glad you liked it. In British English "accommodation" is a singular word with a plural (or singular) meaning (like "information") so we don't ever say "accommodations" although I believe that is acceptable for US writers. So I'll leave it but will probably add a note to that effect. Thanks for pointing it out.

You have put us there in your "happy place" by that lake amidst the throngs of diverse people. I especially like your description of the monthly market place and what you will find. I don't blame you for returning here often. Rod

This was uplifting and I enjoyed reading it. There's nothing quite like the beach is there?
"How beautiful to see a number of different cultures enjoying time together, all eyes blind to differences of colour and nationality. Smiles are a universal language."
Best part of the read!
