Welcome to fan story fan story. You'll make a good addition I'm sure.
I thought the format was a little bit odd. Perhaps something happened when you copied and pasted it into fan story. Fan story does not like anything other than raw text to be posted inside of it.
The presentation has slashes, which I believe are trying to delineate the lines, but in fact all they do is distract from the poem
Try doing a preview. Better yet copy and paste from wherever you copied this from. Paste it into your text session and then copy and paste from your text session into fanstory.
Did you put those slashes in or did fanstory put those slashes in? I'll bet you can't see them when you as the writer see them. You see the writers view.
In between those slashes, There was some beautiful imagery. By referencing, defense that everyone in the US Participates in, you have added warmth to your poem

June sure does come quickly, as does summer, but it feels like it slips away even faster! You blink and it's gone! Strong work here and best of luck moving forward!
