This poem summarises the old adage 'one for sorrow.' Whenever I see one magpie, I always hope another will follow to bring joy. The solitary description of this little bird standing alone on the power line is poignant and I was able to visualise the sadness that echoed from its song.

Not this one probably because this was near a major construction site with lots of trees being cut down.

This 5-7-5, Sorrows, has the proper formatting and pictures the black dour bird seemingly commenting on the poor state of affairs among the creatures below.

Hi
I have seen bird perched of telephone wires. Maybe the magpie is singing a sad song because he/she has no one to talk to. Maybe you should try to find a recording of a magpie singing to add to the poem. I have never heard one.
