This is a very beautiful 5-7-5 poem you have penned for the writing prompt contest. You used great descriptive words and very lovely imagery from the artwork you chose. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Great job on your haiku! I love the way you describe the waves as lacy and I also love the metaphor of them kissing the sand. I do wonder what this scene means to you? I wonder if you could write a series of haikus about the scene and delve more into what the experience of watching the sunrise Oceanside means for the viewer.

I'm perplex as to why after such positive comments you rated the haiku only 4 stars?

I feel like though well executed, the poem lacks your perspective. It describes the scene but does not let me know how it makes the author feel.

Thanks for answering my question. However, I respectfully disagree. I believe the question is how does a poem make the reader feel? Poems are not about the author, but about the reader.

I updated the rating to five as I don?t feel terribly strongly about this, but the truth is I wish the poem made me feel more than it does. There is a lot I like about the poem but it didn?t move me.

I will try harder next time. Thanks for your reconsideration.

I visited North Carolina and I appreciate this poem. I went to the pier at Topsail Island and completely failed to catch any fish. Beautiful location, though. And this poem brought back that fun memory.
