Hi John, for some reason, I too have been thinking about Jan. Maybe, it is because it was Memorial Day, and she always remembered our Fallen Heroes. Of special note:
I started scrolling her profile and read her July 4th, Flag Day, D-Day and Memorial Day posts. Not only did it remind me of Jan and her prolific writing, it also reinforced my pride to be an American citizen and a part of our great country.
(I think the above says it all about Jan, and the pride that You have to be an American citizen. I share that pride with you. We're not perfect, but we still the greatest Nation ever.)
Well done. Thank you for sharing this. Margaret

I remember Jan, she was a very kind and talented lady. I know she is missed.
I recall her poems in honor of our soldiers.
When I joined fanstory I didn't know how to write poetry, especially rhymed poetry and she always help me in private.
May she rest in peace. Well done!

I didn't mean to say Jan taught me haiku and all the other free verse poems I write now. She tried to teach me rhymed poetry. Regardless, she was very kind to me. I just can't rhyme my poems.

No rhyme needed. You are a gifted writer!

John, I do remember Jan. She was a fellow Texan and in the town I grew up in. I think it is very kind of you to write this tribute to Jan. Very well done. Terry.

What a lovely tribute, and a beautiful way to honor a talented and caring person. Your respect for her shines through every word you've written, and makes me want to go back and read more of her work. Thank you for making sure we recall her, on this weekend when we honor fallen heroes.

I loved Jan, she was the kindest, sweetest soul, and I've missed her every day. When I go through my portfolio, I see her name come up all the time with great reviews. If I'd made mistakes, she would PM me, and give me my corrections privately. You are right about her love of her country, and the men in service. I really miss her. Even though I'm British, we would share thoughts on so many things. You have honoured her well, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

John,
Thank you so much for remembering and honoring Jan this way, and for sharing her message she would very much have shared. I miss her, too, and she deserved this post. A tear? That and more, my friend,
Take care,
Rhonda

This is a very touching post, honoring one of our own for her compassion and patriotism. I remember those posts and always said a silent Thank You when she brought up these issues. She will be missed but remembered.
One thing to edit: "...she was in there corner always...", should be "their".

It is always difficult having to recall the loss of someone you treasured on an occasion where you formerly enjoyed together. I am reminded of just how much I hate death, how it robs us of those near and dear to our hearts. We especially miss those lost to us because of armed conflict. We are forced to wonder if it will ever end. How many of our dear sons and daughters will be sacrificed because of armed conflict somewhere in the world. This is a wonderful, heartfelt reminder of dear Jan.
