Hi Wendy,
This is a well written story with a positive twist in the end. Until the last line the reader thinks it could be a dead body. Then it turns out to me only a sweater.

Isn't it something that all the drivers took such care to veer around the dead creature, but not one stopped and removed it to the side of the road? It turned out to be a black sweater, and not a dog. Jane folded the garment and placed it on a park bench. Fortunately, she didn't become the victim of a hit-and-run! That's how I thought you might be ending the Flash Fiction as my thoughts rambled ahead.
Nice entry for the contest! Good Luck with it. I counted exactly 150 words.

I figured it would soon have an odor and drawing buzzards. I made up my mind to go out and and deal with it. I was surprized to find it was the gnarled heart of tree. It was actually shaped like a beutiful piece of driftwood but I not near water andr I have no idea how it got in my yard. It is in my den now. I need a flower arrangment around it.

Well, you had me fooled on this one. I thought a poor little puppy or kitten had been hit, run over, or killed. It struck me how you portrayed the cars seeing this object in the road all avoided hitting it, but none stopped to help. When you revealed it was a sweater, I understood why.

Thank you so much for a super review. I think they all thought it was an animal but there wasn?t a safe place to stop. The early morning sun was quite glary. Happy ending this time.

lol. Well, we all like a happy ending, don?t we? Your lost sweater has been found - it?s on a fence post about 400 metres from my place - in Australia! lol. (Actually it?s gone. I like the way you described the hand movements to shield from the sun and how quickly the dog sensed something was wrong.

Oh dear. I?ll have to change my wording. No animal was hit - it was only a black sweater. She assumed as did the car drivers that it was a N animal, but the sun was in their eyes. Thank you for reviewing. Always appreciated.
