Thank you!! I appreciate your warm and thoughtful review and the memory of the Wal-Mart candy aisle!

I've been frequenting it the last few weeks because I am a voice, flute and piano teacher with nearly seventy students to visit every week in their homes. Next Saturday is Recital Day, and the deal my students and I have is that when they're Recital Ready, they have earned "the candy of your choice in the biggest size I can find it." (If I know nothing else in life, Caroline, I DO know how to motivate!!) So, as I say, the Wal-Mart candy aisle has become my second home!

Do you have a favorite? For me it used to be Reese's peanut butter cups; it was my out-and-out KRYPTONITE! But this year, one of my little cuties introduced me to Nerd Gummi Clusters, and my life will never be the same. I simply CANNOT seem to eat enough of them. Terrifyingly scrumptious!

Was this an expose' or an outright denigration of a Walmart shopper? This is very funny to me. Does it really stay forever on the hips? The elusive win is what intrigues me. They seem to only want light hearted humor. I'm a jovial guy but everything I write has darkness in it.

It's neither - it's me, marveling at all the candy aisle has to offer. I'm a piano teacher, and at this time of year, whenever a student is Recital Ready (i.e. their Recital piece is perfect) they get "the candy of your choice in the biggest size I can find it." So with the Recital just a week and a day away, I've been spending a LOT of time in the Wal-Mart candy aisle.

And thankfully, it doesn't seem to forever stay on the hips. I eat SOO MUCH CANDY yet still remain a size eight, American.

As far as your dark way, do you like horror writing or maybe mystery? I think dark/cryptic is lost on a lot of members. You've intrigued me now, though. I'm going to fan you and read your offerings!

Thank you very much for this nice review. xo

Can you play Claire de lune by Debussy? That has to be the most calming piano I have heard. I?m going to write about learning to sing Ave Maria. I?m too deep for a tenor. It?s brutal.

Yes, I can. Debussy is my favorite composer, as a matter of fact!! What event are you singing the Ave for?

Just a local group thing. I?m not a professional for sure. I?ll do it well though.

This is a very well written poem you have penned about the things you see at Walmart. The art work you chose to use went so well with your words. Congratulations on your win. love and blessings, Teri

Just a delightful poem about the subject. I was having a chocolate attack by the end of it! Your rhyming was superb and choice of words so funny. I enjoyed it!!!

How could I resist this sweetie one! I can sense the addictive lust and juices building up as you walk along the aisle. You know them all and to hell with the weight when you've got this sexy, hourglass bod, you naughty exhibit you!! A strong, fun contender:) Good luck! Deb

Thank you; I appreciate this encouraging review. I wanted to do something positive for poor Wal=Mart. They seem to take a lot of hits, don't they?

Lol. I enjoyed your humor. I guess the candies must be cheaper at Walmart? I am trying to avoid sweets mostly for health not weight. But I enjoyed "I am Reubenesque -
A burge'ning work of art!"
Best wishes in the contest!

Great poem. I had expected this prompt to be about funny/strange people seen at Walmart, but you actually had something nice to say.
I love the Reubenesque reference. I studied art history in college and when I discovered Reuben, I realized I'd been born in the wrong era for my body type! Love that that makes us museum-worthy.
Nicely done and well enjoyed!
Julie
