This was absolutely beautiful. You made me feel like I was rocking there next to you. Drinking my mint Julep and talking with the critters. Listening to the night sounds on a summer night. You deserved a six but you already won, smile. Great job. Esther

I've been trying to work out your rhyme scheme. I know it's there and it adds fluency to your post but it's not a particularly regular one. That said, you create a very atmospheric verse which is very pleasing for one who's never known this geographical feature. In fact, it sounds very idyllic with all the birds, bullfrogs and turtles. I love the "stockin' slightly darned and washtub pale" And the mint julep moon weaving through your lovely verse, infusing its luminosity and special charm. Well done and good luck! Debbie

It's 9 lines per stanza--ABCABCABCABC . It's not one I've seen before or know a name for it. I made it up as I wrote it because I like experimenting with different rhyme schemes. It just felt right for this poem. Hope that helps? Thanks so much for your kind review.

Very lovely poem and the various sights and sounds do appeal to the senses, being described so well. It seems like a time of relaxation, fulfilment, and appreciation. Best wishes for the contest.

I'll have a julep too. I haven't seen you before.
Thanks for the review. I enjoyed your poem. If you want to fan me, I review one for one. I will review you after you review me whether or not you have any points. As long as you have things to review. I have a lot of work so you will probably not run out of stuff to read. But, if you don't have much I might run out. I do not keep a list. If you have written me a review I will look up one of yours to review first. Than I will read your review on me. If you have nothing for me to read, I will thank you and go about my day. If you wish to fane me, I will fan you back. Good work here. Loved the picture. Karen

That sounds fair. I just returned to FanStory November so not as much to read as you, but I hope you enjoy. Thanks so much for your review!

Poet, way above and beyond the call. This is stellar writing, and I dove deeply into each setting and truly understand where your heart and happiness dwell. Good luck is not necessary you are already a winner...

Makes me feel like I'm in the South just reading your poem! I like the "mint julep moon." Years ago I read a recipe but now I've completely forgotten what it all entails but it feel relaxing! Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you so much for your review! The mint julep is powdered sugar, water, mint leaves, bourbon, and crushed ice (but I would use honey rather than sugar & water)--never tasted one because I don't like bourbon, but the name's attractive. Might try it someday. Thanks again!

Wonder if it would be good even without the bourbon? I like mint tea -especially iced in the summers.

I l,ove the sultry atmosphere present in your poem. The sights and sounds are enticing - your imagery is magical. I can hear the crickets and the "groan" of the gators and feel the warm rain.
A beautiful poem. Good luck in the contest.

I enjoyed this poem. It painted the setting clearly with plenty of sensory detail. The rhyme was fun. The accompanying picture was beautiful.

This poem transported me to the sultry atmosphere of the Southern Bayou You present a rich picture of sights, sounds, and sensations. I am unsure if it is classed as a dialect poem but if not it is close. Good luck in the contest.
