Your story is very encouraging and shows that there is always the possibility that happiness is around the corner following such tragedy and that it's up to the individual to be brave and make that change. I guess the hardest thing is to make that huge step because no-one can predict what happens afterwards.
I like the way it ends, with the reader wanting more. Maybe there could be a sequel? :-)

I feel that so much character is built through adversity. Then too the relationships you build during adversity are really special.
