How did I miss this one, Jimi? I won't miss another. Congrats on getting into the contest! And what an evocative, creative work here. I love the way you draw the reader in, teasingly, with your suggestion that your muse is MIA:) In fact it's alive and well and exploring the wondrous feats of nature as it take us on a journey from dawn to nightfall. Some impressive imagery (velveteen rabbits, shimmering black satin curtains) and personification. The visual reflects the concept of a painting in which you fully immerse your reader. Debbie, if it would not have been Sojourner it would have been another. You are that gifted. Never doubt your unique ability and passion to bring iconic and legendary figures who are truly heroes to life. I applaud you.
I hope one day you might try Pocahontas. Another strong Native who garnered peace between Natives and Colonist. It was no small feat.
But I know your brain must be taxed and there are plenty of legends out there even in your country.

The weather here has been atrocious! Bringing the shakes and turtles and baby alligators across the roads.

I tend to God who hung the stars on nothing, and the earth the image of Heaven, this is a magnificent free verse Jimmy. Blessings Roy

My muse does not visit so often anymore. Writing has taken a back seat to other priorities. Such is life. I remember a time when I could write daily and post daily, but it seems like eons ago.

Thank you so much for reviewing and complimenting my work. For the last five years or more, I've put writing poetry aside because of other priorities and goals. I keep saying I am returning to participate in Fanstory as I did many years ago, but it has not happened.
