This poem is a good one, as you use irony to get your point across.
Nice presentation, including your notes.
Your poem is a sad commentary, symbolic of troubles of people all over the world.
Some beautiful things in life should not be tainted, like the life of this painter.
Virtual six stars, as mine are already used up.
Good luck class with this write.

Hello Cindy, Thank you for reading. Albert was a famous artist and after he passed, his family kept the art going. He is very famous. Cheers, Kay.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading your work. Easy to read and understand. Thoughtful and interesting. Your artwork reinforced your words--or vice versa.

A very interesting account, Aussie, and I think it's a good thing she did.
I wonder how someone with no training automatically knew how to add and blend colors, shading them, etc. Amazing. Do you have one? or a print?
This is lovely, looking at the mountains in the distance with the gum tree in the foreground. He is really talented.

The situation with black artists in those days was disgraceful. I'm glad she did too. But, he was already an Australian by birth - all Aborigines owned the land, not the whites. No, I don't have a print of his, and to buy original work $$$. I paint my own. K xx

same with our Indians, and I'm sure there must be a famous Indian artist, I just don't know of one - which means nothing,
Have you written a piece about one of your paintings? I'd love to see a picture!

Kace,

I am going to tell you once again, these short works of stories with historical meaning is your gift and your niche. They are incredible and teach all of us many lessons of Australia's cultural history. I loved it.

Hi Jimi! Thanks for reading. I have reached my 1000 milestone (no wonder I'm feeling ancient.) I have 19 chapters written about the Aboriginal Dreamtime. Americans love to read about my country. Be good you! Love, Kace.

Thank you for sharing about this famous Aussie Indigenous artist! I looked up his other paintings. Thanks for sharing this one - lovely painting! Best wishes in the contest!

Suggestion:
making them Australians' all. (no apostrophe) no possessive here
and possibly "making them all Australians."

Lena, Thanks for reading and yes, his work is unique; we are known for dot paintings. Mainly the women do that. His great-grandsons have followed in his footsteps. Love, Kay xx

That is a beautiful painting. He deserves recognition. I looked him up and looked as his other painting. He has captured the area in beautiful color. I enjoyed your flash story.

Hi Beth, I'm Glad you looked him up. In his day, he was far ahead of his time. Self-taught (me too.) The tribal women do the dot paintings. The white man was selling them in shops and the artist got nothing. Nowadays, they get a percentage of the sale price. Some tourists pay thousands for a dot painting. Albert's originals hang in the National Gallery. There are still many prints around (I would love one of the originals.) His colors were mixed from soils and plants around him. K xx

I totally agree - how ridiculous and demeaning that he of all people was not deemed Australian. Ironic that the queen from overseas could "make" him Australian. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Wendy, Yes, it's raining again! I lost all my veggies with wet feet. How is it down there? Getting cool in the mornings?
Thanks for reading. The ignorant British were lore in those days. 1788 Cook took Oz and made our people slaves...I could go on! Cheers, Kay.

What an amazingly gifted painter he was Albert Namatjira, he sometimes sold his paintings for a song, completely and utterly ripped. Even the very famous white artists were actually poor as church mice while they lived. Artists and artistic people do their gift for the sheer love of it. Beautifully written Kay, blessings Roy

Yes, I know Roy. I have given many paintings away. I loved his work. He was unique. No dot paintings for him he left that for the tribal women. Thanks for reading my friend. Blessings, Kay.
