He was right to stand by what he had worked for and believed in. To keep his spirit untainted. To stand firm when the going got tough. As a general guideline, compromising principals has negative results. Like changing horses in midstream, not a viable action. There are ongoing reasons why a person adopts something as one of their principal beliefs, in the first place. Especially when their are other people depending on it. And as society mumbles onward, items that are turned down to protect a belief, well if those items return, they might be in an improved version because someone stood strong against the storm.

I thought this was very enjoyable. What stands out most while reading this is how you show the importance of staying true to one's principles, even in the face of adversity. Senator Brooks' decision to reject the proposal, despite the backlash and personal risks involved was powerful. This is well written and I wish you well in the contest.
