I'm glad they got to Ben Paul in time to hear his last sermon and what hpreached really touched their hearts. Mary and Slim are an interest pair. It seems being in bed for eighty years didn't bother his that much. He was given a chance to make up for lost time after all. Ben Paul seems at the end of his preaching career. I'm wondering if there will be more about him or Slim and Mary.

Very enjoyable chapter for me and for the characters who get to unload a lot on their new friend. Isn't it nice to be able to tell a tale such as Slim's and not worry about being believed for how outrageous it sounds to a guy who believes it implicitly?

This sounds like a possible ending for Slim's tale. Will it continue on? He seems to have struck pay-dirt with that dynamite blast, so no telling where it might go.

    Thank you.
I take off with Ben Paul now, but we're not done with Slim and Mary.
Remember 14 chapters ago I put up a notice that I was going to try something different with the 'One Man's Calling' story. It was Ben, then Tony, and now Slim to get to Ben Paul. But the calling on Ben Paul is way different.

Hi Wayne, this is the first I've read of this story, so I have a lot of catching up. So far it looks very promising and they're digging for gold as well. Intriguing. Ulla:)))

    Thank you.
This is chapter 125, actually. It started as a story of God's calling on Ben Persons in the 1800s.

They finally met the son of the earth-savior! All these years later, and now Slim has the white hair (or just mustache?) to prove it. Are you going to age him further? Body slowing down, wrinkles, etc.?

Gold, huh? Seems fitting:-)

Yes, Slim will age, but the protagonist role slides over toward Ben Paul.
The gold thing was a bit over the top in terms of credibility, but I just felt like Slim and Mary deserved it. (smiley face here)
Thank you for the very nice review.
Hah! I guess I have built Ben to Herculean stature. (smiley face here)

Interesting and well written and it is good they have made contact with Ben Paul, and been able to share stories of Ben's father. And now Slim and Mary have found gold nuggets! Wow!

    Thank you.
I suppose the gold nuggets might be over the top in terms of credibility, but hey, it's fiction!
Thank you for your excellent review.

Slim and Mary enjoyed their time with Ben Persons and learning about his father. Then they returned home and just happened to find a treasure in gold as Slim was digging for a hobby. They are really proving to be lucky. Are they going to head for Alaska to see Ben the elders grave?

No, they were more interested in finding Ben's God.

Having lived in Colorado, those gold nuggets aren't so over the top as most might think.

I am glad that they finally could swap stories with Ben Paul Persons. There's closure there but Slim went back to mining for gold even using dynamite! Is that even legal? And how will they explain where the gold came from? I guess they can feel financially secure just as they are spiritually secure!

    Thank you.
I guess you would say that Slim and Mary fairly live outside, or beside, the law for the most part.
In 1971 Colorado dynamite was prob'ly legal, but only in registered mines.

As someone recently posted for a contest, I wish Tom had a store for six stars. Anyhow, your quality continues, it's nice, now and then, like in the old serials to have a bit of flashback within the storyline for readers to catch up. Your message of Jesus in unashamedly honest aqnd hope it reverberates with the readers.

Thank you for your great review.
This is chapter 124 (200K words) of the larger 'One Man's Calling' tale that began with Ben Persons. I've been trying to, more or less, continually tie him into Tony, Slim, and Ben Paul's stories.
If I could ever (pipe dream here) market it, it would prob'ly be 5 novellas.
    Thanks again.
