Do not usually touch political pieces, but so true all politicians lie. Is that not a preresiquite for holding political office?

Way too many times after voting one is left with the lingering question of why did I bother?

"short sighted" should be short-sighted.

One of the problems remains, like politicians most people have their own agendas and could not care about the overall "big" picture. Another reason I seldom touch political pieces.

"meat balls" should be meatballs.

Tom, what a fantastic rant on the political status of our country now and then as well as does our vote really mean anything.

Inflation is running rampant, I'm 69 and still having to work 45-50 hours weekly.

Then turn around and see how one person can command a $700 million dollar contract to play baseball. We, the fans can't afford to go see a baseball game in decent seats.

These buffoon politicians refund raising and spending hundreds of million of dollars on there election and telling us lies. When does it end? Where does it end? Our vote means squat!

Sorry for the rant... I did enjoy your post and it's well written status...

John

    Hello John,
there is no need to apologize. You're expressing the sentiments of most of the voting public I believe. Our values are really skewed right now. I feel like our country is for sale to the highest bidder. We need term limits, but you know the politicians won't agree to it. Depending on what happens this election, I half fear a civil war. The normal boundaries that used to keep us civilized seem to be eroding. Thanks so much for the great review.
    Have a blessed evening.

You certainly have spoken for the many wise people. I also ask myself why should I vote the only reason I'm going to vote is because it will be voting against Trump. I don't listen to the news I don't look at anything on Facebook I have to stay in my happy place. But I do think about if Trump gets back in power he has said way too many things to not make it scary.

    Hi Liz,
I'm not nearly as worried about Trump as I am about Biden. Ever since he got in power it's been a downhill slide for America. Even the Dems didn't want him when he ran the first time. I may not like the Donald as a person, but I loved his policies. I could afford gas and groceries under Trump, something that most people have to admit Biden has screwed up totally. We don't have any great choices, but we have what we have, and I don't want another four years like the last three have been.
    Blessings,

I here your anger and mostly agree. When we moved away from being close to our families, we began this downhill run. When me became more important than us. Karen

    Hello Karen,
I think there has been an orchestrated attack on the family unit for quite some time now. It creates a divide and conquer mentality of us versus them. Families were created by God, and while most aren't perfect, they are nonetheless the foundation that we start our lives on.
    Have a blessed day gal.

I hear you. A lot of people are unhappy with our country. We are more divided than we've been since the civil war ane that is pretty serious. Prices have been escalating forever. That seems to be the case in all countries. As salaries go up so do prices. I remember when movies were a dime and meal were less than a dollar but the minimum wage was less than a dollar. I think we might be better off, if we didn't listen to the news. We would be blissfully unaware that anything had changed. I'm not sure the whole plot isn't to make us unhappy so we'll hate the other party. I never heard of anyone who wasn't a citizen voting, but I did some research and learned it is illegal in national elections and people can be deported and never be allowed to be a citizen if one slips through. The odds are very unlikely, but a few have slipped through voting for both parties. The votes weren't counted and some people are sent to jail. However in local elections, some states do allow them to vote. Still one party would like you to believe it is widespread in national elections.
I agree about term limits and getting rid of lobbies. I agree we should never vote on just one issue. We need to see the whole picture and do what is really best for the country. Change is going to happen because that is the way the world works. The older generation is always going to bitch about and that is about all they can do.

    Hello Beth,
thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. I agree 100% that we are more divided than ever as a nation. The bible says that a housed divided against itself cannot stand. I think that's my biggest fear.
It appears that there is a willingness in Washington to sacrifice the good of the entire country for the sake of a political party. Laws that have been written to prevent such things from happening are no longer enforced and we seem to be descending into chaos.
One thing we can do, aside from bitch, is to get out and vote. Even if our party doesn't win, having a strong showing should let the powers that be know that they are being watched.
    Have a blessed day gal.

Tom, you talk such sense and I love the way you give it your all here! Your valid points are reinforced in your comprehensive notes (which are so good and may even top your main write). Issues like the myopic view of the voter, voting reform and China's influence in the country all need to be properly addressed in a grown-up fashion. A great rant which would have done well in the 'I vote' contest. Thanks for sharing, Tom. Take care Debbie

    Hi Debbie,
thanks so much for the glowing review gal. I actually did submit this to the contest, but it was disqualified because it was supposed to be flash fiction, something I didn't realize at the time. I don't think I could make up the stuff that is happening in this country.
    Have a blessed day gal.

I think when you see those two 'buffoon' candidates battling it out, it's enough to make anyone despair!

I think there are many of us who share your aggravation in how everything is negotiated and handled in our country these days. If the people we put in office can't compromise for the good of us, the people, then they need to be fired and replaced with a candidate that will do his/her job. I could go on and on for hours, but lucky for you, I won't. LOL. Thanks for speaking us, like more of us should.

    Hi Ric,
I don't think it matters which side of the aisle you're on, we can all agree that things are a mess right now. I don't know if we are going to be able to turn it around or not. I have a lot of fear of what the future holds if we continue down the path we're on. When laws no longer apply to criminals, and people are punished for doing good, I think the end is near. Have a blessed day my friend.

In the UK, you cannot vote without showing photo ID, you have to take your passport or driving licence to vote. You are not on your own Tom, so many US citizens are unhappy with the status quo and I don't see anything changing in the near future either, good luck, a fine post, love Dolly x

    Hi Dolly,
thanks so much for the fine review gal. It used to be that you had to have a photo ID, but because of politics, the Democratic party has pretty much thrown that out. I sincerely believe that the crisis we have at the border right now is because they are hoping that by letting in the illegals, they will all vote Democrat. The system is broken, and the American people are the ones who are suffering.

Amen! You highlighted many things gone wrong here and just scratched the surface. What we are leaving our children and grandchildren with is criminal. Mainly, we live in a predominantly godless nation and that is not what the framers of our Constitution intended. We were designed to have a free nation under God's direction.
Most of these leaders spit in God's eye daily and on you and me. I have no doubt these are the end times because of the rise in godlessness and wickedness, especially in high places. The United States is leading the way down, and it is not good. I tell every I know to pray, and to vote for the best candidate on the ticket. Unfortunately the presidential pick is between the devil and the deep blue sea. I'm writing in my vote for prez. He's a great man, perfect really. Jesus Christ.

Typo: privelege. Privilege.

Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the contest.
Sal :))

Thank you for your review and commentary. We're in big trouble in this country, and I don't know what it's going to take to make people realize it. I understand your desire to write in Jesus, but it may just be another vote that goes toward the current president. I don't like Trump, but I loved his policies.
reply by Sally Law on 13-Apr-2024
True, but I can't in good conscience vote for either one. I honestly think if Trump wins they'll kill him, Tom. They may kill Biden too and put Kamala in which is a thousand times worse than Biden. Honestly, we need to pray. Something of the end time nature is going to happen. I hope it's the Rapture. I'm ready. Sal :))

I don' t know gal. If either one was assassinated, the result would be a civil war I think. I could be wrong, but I know that I've been driven to the breaking point over what's become of this country, and I'm preparing the best I can for what the future holds.
    Blessings,

I send this with a prayer, my friend. You are not alone. Many feet the same. Draw close to the Lord and seek His wisdom. I just saw on the news that Iran attacked Israel. Be in prayer about that too. Sal :))

Amen! Amen! and Amen! Vote them all out and demand better or the generations to come will grow up hating us and will have every right to do so. Thanks for sharing this wonderful rant.

Thanks for taking the time to review and comment on this. I think a lot of people feel the same way, but they aren't given much choice in who they can vote for. Something better change soon though, or we're going to be more worried about just surviving than all the petty things people argue about now.
