Well done for even attempting this difficult challenge, Jim! As ever, your fertile imagination has created another engrossing story (unhampered by those prompt words which fit in there fluently). And, oh dear, another tragic and undeserved ending! An excellent read and a great contender! Good luck! Debbie

You successfully converted some words from Micah to a noir-feeling detective story. That's a really big change!
I think my favorite word pair is how you used dust feeding in relation to Detective dying. Extremely original.
Well done!
Julie

Thank you. At first I got a bit nervous when it opened to Micah!

That is an interesting way to write. Just pick words and make a story. Confounded spelled wrong? I have been reading the Left Behind series and was just thinking how God sees the heart and not the face we show publicly. Esther

Thank you so much! I edited it. Somehow, I spelled the word correctly in the story, but the notes were incorrect.

A very interesting tale showing how falling in love can affect our good senses...sometimes with deadly results. Truly, when our hearts are involved, we can ignore what usually would cause us alarm. This is an excellent Roundabout entry, Jim. Best wishes!

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I enjoyed reading. I'm wondering how many men have fallen for a girl, who only gets them into trouble. LOL Good luck with the contest.

She played it smart and we got to enjoy one another, real good. (comma after smart, you switched subjects & really)

This was a contest I passed on, believing it nearly impossible to write coherently. You proved me wrong.
Except for your cop being so dumb, it was a good story.
Good luck in the contest.

It was the only thing I could come up with! I thought I might pass after I opened to, of all things, Micah.

This is a very interesting story that you have written using those words from the verse in Micah. I enjoyed listening and enjoyed it. It's very moving and it is well written. Have a good day and a good weekend. Patricia .

Entertaining story for the Roundabout writing prompt. This looks very challenging to me. It had the feel of an old time detective film. Good luck in the contest
