Hi Ginda,
I like the short lines that emphasize the emotions and descriptions in them. The words give a clear image of the woman as she is dressing and leaving. It is true that it is hard to find 'alone' time even with one child. But immensely harder with each extra one you have.
Congrats on placing third in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
Joan

My pleasure, Ginda. Wow, what a big family. I am the middle of five.

Congratulations on placing in the contest.

Your loving tribute to your mother is beautiful. It reads as an " homage" to motherhood, even to our earth mother Gaia.

But it made me smile because I know little girls love watching their mothers get dressed up ( and they also love messing with their cosmetics !) Such an endearing memory that draws your readers in.

It was my pleasure to read and review your fine work today.

Blessings, Julia

Thank you, Julia, I think it was a homage to not just my mother.

I just adore this poem for your mother. I could have written the same about my mother, June. She always looked so pretty even going to the mailbox. Sending you my best today as always, dear Ginda.

A red lipstick is a simple thing that brings a happy memory for you, Ginda and a lovely poem for us to read. My Mum had a red pillbox hat with a big black feather in it, that's my red lipstick memory.
Loved this one,
valda

Yes, I remember those garter belts our moms had to wear. And my mom wore red lipstick as well. Coty. They were ladies who found pleasure in dressing up and were proud of it. More power to them. Thank you for sharing.

This is such a nice memory you share in free verse, I admire you for entering a contest where you need go write a poem a day. You've written this free verse well and it shows, this is a memory you cherish.

Thank you, Beth. I am doing my best with the poem a day challenge. The downside is not having enough time to review others' work.
