Hi Wendy, I remember back in the early 70s, there was an area around Marysville (near Fredericton, New Brunswick) that always seemed to flood. One spring, my two best friends (Jim McFarlane and Greg Morrow) and I took a drive (in Jim's 1967 Falcon sports coupe) through the area and back to Sussex, and then home. Water was everywhere. In some places, the road disappeared. We had to guess where the pavement was. The mighty Saint John River just isn't deep enough.
I have a niece who bought a home in Sussex, and she's always getting flooded (especially in the spring). As you wrote, it's impossible to sell. Everyone knows how perilous it is to live there.
I'm glad you are on high ground, Wendy, and free from the worry of flooding. It's good of you to help others when the rains pound the ground. I've seen many soccer fields that have turned into lakes. It seems there's so much flooding nowadays.
Nicely penned! I also appreciate your reference to God.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you very much, Kimbob, for this delightful review, and for the six stars. We have had a lot of extreme weather these last five or six years. I hope your niece is okay. Constant flooding means a huge amount of cleaning and restoration, and having to do it over and over is discouraging. Thank you again. Wendy

That's right. The councils allowed the developments and the people living in these areas are paying the price. You've written this with compassion, Wendy, knowing what these floods leave behind. Well done,

Thank you Valda. You are right. Those Council members are really responsible for a lot of hardship and great suffering, and a huge financial impact on the country. Thanks for such an insightful review.

You keep getting a battering, although I know you're on the NSW coast, but I've either forgotten or, I've failed to notice where, I know there's been real problems further north, although or international friends don't have a olue, but the important thing is to pray. Great post Wendy, blessings Roy

Yes, the severe weather system went right down the eastern coast, yet not all areas suffered as badly as last time, thankfully. Lovely review - thank you so much.

I'm so glad the rain stopped and things got better for these people who had to go to rescue shelters. I don't have to worry about floods either because I'm on the top of a mountain but a lot of people in Chattanooga do get flooded.

Thank you Beth. A lovely review. Fortunately the storm and rain did not cause further problems, but we were holding our breath a bit.

When I lived in Las Cruces New Mexico, there were many areas that were very prone to flooding, and the reason they were prone to flooding is that they had covered over the natural arroyos that usually took the waters of rain away. We even had a flood that came through because they had covered one of the royals and it put 12 inches of dirty flood water in our church and it took a great deal of work to get it cleaned up. Patricia.

Yes, cleaning up after a flood is horrible work - eveything is smelly and mouldy and so hard to get the water stains out. Man needs to work WITH nature, and not alter the natural water courses. Thank you for reviewing.

We are all praying for the best in times like you mentioned. Didn't Australia have some catastrophic fires not too long ago? Thanks for sharing this story.

Thank you so much for this thoughtful review. You have an excellent memory! Yes, in 2019 we had catastrophic bushfires, with hundreds of millions of animals and birds lost, and whole towns wiped out, severe loss of life and buildings and homes. Then in 2020 it was a series of "once in a hundred years" floods, breaking all records. Fortunately these floods are just "moderate", but still devastating for those who have suffered loss. Thank you again.

I feel lucky living here in Michigan. We do get some lake effect snow, but the lakes protect us from a lot of the bad weather. We seldom get tornadoes, or violent windstorms. Fires are few and usually only in the woods. Most of thenasty weather stays south, east, and west of Michigan. It is a nice place to live.

I'm way behind on my reviewing so my apologies for asking you earlier if the weather had improved and your volunteering come to an end. I now have the answers to both and am very relieved that you've, at least, got some respite at the moment. As you say, it's a land of extremes and challenging to get the balance right. So the authorities are forgiven. Here in the UK, however, less so, because we don't have extremes and are awash in water and rainfall and yet still have hose pipe bans when we get a couple of months of dry weather! I'm pleased that your strong faith has helped you through this latest crisis, albeit proving that man has very few answers in respect of power and authority over nature.
I appreciate the update and my hopes that this good news continues.
Take care Debbie x

Thank you so much Debbie. The weather did improve for three days, but more rain is falling today, and the river is VERY full, even up-stream a couple of kilometres from where I live. It will have more impact in the lower regions which still have bridges and land under water. You are right - we are not in control of the world of weather and climate, much as we would like to be. Thanks so much for a super review.

Thanks for sharing this answer to prayer. I'm glad to learn that this time it won't be as bad and when you serve it wouldn't be like the last time. May those people you help see the Living Hope in you!

God must have heard you, Wendy. This freaky weather has been a global problem lately. You must be coming up on winter. Do you have bad weather in the winter?

I think there were many people praying, even worldwide. In general our winters are beautiful, with stable weather. No snow, blue skies and sunshine. Sometimes cold winds; our maximum temperatures are usually about 60, and our minimums around 30 to 35. Thanks so much for a super review.

God does answer prayers. I am thanking Him for that, but continually praying until all have settled down. Thank you for keeping us updated on this situation.
