Early Spring in the Mountains

Ciao ,
late March , early April mamma and cubs emerge. Spring is in swing. Which is a good thing.
Mamma has to provide much more milk because the cubs growth in 4x more now.
Bears are amazing, they mate in spring but only when the mamma bear goes into hibernation does the embryo start to grow.
Two months later in mid winter the cubs are born.
Mamma and cubs will huddle up next winter once last time. Cubs stay with their mothers 18 months.

This is a nice poem that reminds us that in spite of all the cold and all the snow that we have seen spring is at the door and the Bears will be on the prowl. I'm not sure if that's good or not lol thanks for writing.

Thanks for your kind words. In Yellowstone Park years ago, I saw the bears at the waterside. Except for zoo visits, that was my only live experience.

Your thoughts/comments parallel my thinking. In my lifetime, I have seen bears in Yellowstone Park and most infrequently in mountainous areas. We were always in the air are at a great distance from being in a dangerous situation.
