Not exactly poetic but the message comes through loud and clear. I read all the entries and you've got my vote. It's completely different than the others but boy, can I relate. Good luck with the contest.

Thank! So glad you stopped by! So glad you joined our group. I read your page. Like you, I had written poems, but only things like our family Christmas cards and silly stuff. But, since joining 4 years ago, I have submitted around 350 poems. By answering a challenge, it stretches my interests and excitement. This one is probably only the 2nd where I have used bad words, but I was in the mood. We just started working on taxes last week. Otherwise, I usually write on the humor side of life and aging. Well, welcome aboard, and as we said in the 60's, "write on!"

I agree with you here, we pay our taxes and have no say in how our money is spent. I enjoyed your powerful post and many will identify with these words, the tax collector has a lot to answer for, love Dolly x

Yes, Ms. Dolly, we taxpayers are used and abused. Our traditions here, starting with throwing tea in the harbor, have long been ignored by those who "serve" us. Thanks for stopping by!

Oh yes the Boston Tea party of 1773. I wrote a poem about it a while back:
Strong Indian Leaf
taxed the minds of colonists
sips of hot tension
Madness prevails.
Love Dolly x x x

I've never understood why the colorists dressed like Indians to protest the tax on the English tea they were drinking. But, it is a great story. Since I married a yankee gal from Massachusetts, we spend some of every summer up there. I just love the feel. BTW: we colonists like your Princess very much and we get all the news. Blessings to her and the Royal family and England...

Very strong artwork that accompanies what is going on in the poem. I love that you started poem with 'Aw,shit!' Because the person involved is already a defeated foe at the very first line of the poem and we often use curse words to show our anger or as a coping mechanism when we are in great danger. 'Tax time again!' Shows this issue is an ever ending cycle that hunts every living soul that works under the government's authorities. I presume the 'crooked bastards' are corrupted people in power that spend our hard earned money on reckless decisions. I really feel the tension, the anger and the lack of hope towards the person in this poem. Tax is truly a bondage that affects ordinary people who work tirelessly just to make a living. I love that you used your poem to tackle or highlight political issues that we face as people in the society.
