Cool take on this gorgeous wonder of nature: jilted jailer of a watery creator. What a creative mind you have! You found the perfect picture to be in tandem with the fabulous words. Glad I got to read this today!! xo

This is lovely and I think I may have seen the exact view of the Grand Canyon. I have a few picture books I still look through. One has some time-lapsed photography of the canyons and how different it looks throughout the day. A unique haiku form Ive never heard of. I'll need to try it sometime. Sending you my best today as always.

I have seen Niagara Falls. Now I would like to see the Grand Canyon and the Alamo. I would also like to see Mount Rushmore.

The site is breathtaking and to know that the glaciers plowed through the mountains and left the Colorado River flowing at the bottom of the canyon is astounding. It's sad to know that the river and many like it are drying up and disappearing. The world changes...and not always for the good.

The picture drew me in. When I was there with my family 25 years ago it literally took my breath away as I approached the rim.

Jailing its creator, indeed. The Colorado River is so far below you can barely see it in places. Sadly, I believe I've heard that it's drying up, like so many rivers across the world.

Well worth a trip if you've never been.

Nicely penned, Joan.

Thanks for the review, Pam. It is sad that the Colorado is drying up. That means that I have to go see it soon.

Now, I have never come across this poetic form before, but I liked what I read. The imagery is wonderful in those mere 15 syllables. What a great entry for the potlatch. Ulla:)))

Really good! The idea of the river being 'jailed' by the very thing it made is a very unique poetic perspective and I love it! I love the metaphorical possibilities of that perspective as well! Good job!

Dragonpoet, this is a metaphoric gem. The title and selected picture bred
scribe's ekphrastic. These sparse, but succinct words captured via mind's
eye has rightly depicted decades, perhaps centuries of Mother Nature carving this masterpiece. The compressed syllables tells the whole story with out wasting a word. teafor2

An eye-catching visual accompanied by equally dramatic sentiments. You've captured (sorry about the pun here) the geology and provenance of this landscape in stunning detail, Joan! A great club entry. Thanks for sharing Debbie
