Tina did need to learn some life lessons and it sounds like that was forced upon her. You told well the Alan and Ginnie getting Tommy's early birthday present up and running and their private interlude too. Great chapter Jim.
Cheers

Thanks, Valda. We'll see Tina one more time before the end to see if she took this lesson to heart.

Pretty All-American in nature. Makes me think of My Three Sons, Leave it to Beaver and even the Donna Reed Show. Hoping for a change in venue. Well written but not terribly exciting. Just my honest opinion.

There's only one change of venue that comes much later. This story pretty much stays in one physical locale, but what goes on there is the story. This may not be the type of story you especially enjoy. It's very different from my golf stories.

Hello Jim,
this was another thoroughly enjoyable chapter. So far your story is kind of mimicking life. We go along fine and then from out of the blue, we get kicked in the nuts. After a bit of time something unexpectedly good comes our way reversing our fortune until the next drawback. I'm glad Alan and Ginnie got a chance to spend some quality time together.
Of course being the pessimist I am, I'm thinking that the computer will cause some issues, but it sounds like this computer isn't connected to the internet, so perhaps it will be OK for awhile. Ginnie is a loving, intelligent mom. Well done buddie, I liked it.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Thanks for your kind words, Tom, and I'm happy you enjoyed it. Now it's time for a plot shift to the other main part of the story that will begin in Part 2.

This little group will soon become a family, and will face new challenges in which we'll see if Alan has learned anything from Part 1. I can't wait to get started with it. Hope you'll enjoy this part too.

Very good. You don;t have many left do you? I still think Tina should have had jail time for lying about Alan. I can be snarky about some things.
Joke: Why can't you ever tell when a Pterodactyl is going to the bathroom? Because the "P" is silent !

Hate to break it to you, but we're just under halfway through. With the next posting, we begin part 2 which gets back to the other major theme of the story--Alan and Tommy's dyslexia. Quite a bit in store with that, including some real drama towards the end.

What Tina did wasn't a criminal offense. It was slander or defamation, and she would only have gotten a fine and possible jail if Alan had pressed charges, which he decided not to do. I've got better things in mind for Tina.

    Good joke!

So I offer my thoughts. The fact that you didn't ask for them doesn't slow me down any.hahaha Karen

Did you read the easter bunny story or Harry yet? Karen

Hopefully, I'll get to them soon. We've had friends visit this weekend, and I'm way behind in my reviewing.

This was an enjoyable chapter. I'm glad the principal of Grove High finally apologized and even invited Alan back to teach. But Alan has a brand new happy life with his own business and plans to teach on his own terms, not to mention a woman who cares about him.

Sentence structure:
we were enjoying hamburgers cooked on a little hibachi on her back patio and corn on the cob.

we were enjoying hamburgers and corn on the cob cooked on a little hibachi on her back patio.

Thank you, Lorraine. Everything seems hunky-dory now, so we're ready for a major shift in the story, the beginning of which comes in the next chapter.

Things are hotting up between Ginnie and Allen, and Tommy gets his own computer from a refurbished beauty that Allen has been worked on, Earl offers Allen his old job back, Suzie and Tina have left the state because things got too hot for them, but all in all things, but sometimes it's best to forgive. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

I'm glad you've enjoyed this so far, Roy. Right now, we've just reached the end of Part 1 and Part 2 starts next where we'll get back to the other major theme of dyslexia. There will be some significant action in this part too. We're almost at the halfway point now.

It appears the world is getting a lot better for David/Alan, he'll be teaching on his own terms, has a business that's growing, and a new lady, with a ready-made family, in his life. I like this. LOL

Thank you, Barbara. We've now reached the end of Part 1, and with the next chapter we will begin delving into perhaps the more significant part of the story which deals with dyslexia and the efforts to combat it.

This is another excellent chapter. TRS80, a blast from the past. Many years ago, I was putting a paper on the computer. So after I typed it, I wanted to print but I could not get to print. My husband is computer savvy, he was at work that day. So with all the confidence in the world, I went to the book. After many trys, I called my husband. He said, "did you hit return?" I did not because I did not see that in the book.

I remember those early days of the home computer fondly. We got our first one around 1980 and didn't really do much on it other than word processing. But I was a computer guy back then and developed a lot of programs on it. Funny story about your early experience with it, Lee.

I enjoyed reading this. It must be gratifying to David to know he'd be welcomed back as a teacher if he wanted it. His business is doing well and he doesn't need that for now. His relationship with Ginny has gone to a new level. The computer brings back memories. I had one with the floppy disk and also had the flying program.

Thanks very much, Beth. I got my first computer in 1980 and it had a 10 megabyte hard drive plus a floppy disk drive. Ooo 10 MB! You can now hold a 32 GB thumb drive on one finger. Amazing how far they have come.

I was wondering when that computer would show up again. I liked how Alan embraced his new identity and looks forward to teaching in college instead. It was fun to read about DOS. Lol. That takes me back 30 years!

just a couple weeks before school started again for Tommy, Ginny (Ginnie) I don't know why you chose the "Ginnie" spelling but you should keep it consistent.

Oh yes, the old DOS. Loved those early computers. Thanks for pointing out the spelling inconsistency. I found four others besides that one I'd also missed.
