I enjoyed reading your story and found it to be an easy, pleasant, down-to-earth, conversational event that left nothing unopened on the table to question. When the answers are complete during a reading, the focus is stable, presenting a crisp and detailed scenario, from cover to cover. Well written, in my opinion. I wish you the best with this fun themed contest!

This is a delightful 'boy and his dog' story. I understand grandpa's reaction because he wanted a dog also. Even though Billy's mom did not want a dog, dogs have a way of warming your heart and adding joy to your life. You have told a compelling story about a lucky dog who will live happily ever after, because a little boy found a bone tag. Best wishes in the contest.

Nice story. Kinda knew where it was headed though. Who could disappoint a boy and a dog, especially under the tutelage of a grandpa? Maybe this is a true life story. idk. Good luck.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Throughout the whole thing, I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next. Your grandson's endearing persistence and love for his family--and for dogs!--really came through well.
My main suggestion is to maybe draw the ending out a little longer. I wanted to know how you were feeling when you got off the phone with your daughter. Obviously, you were happy with her decision to keep the dog, but I wanted to go deeper into your feelings at that moment. Also, maybe instead of saying huge orb, just say "sun" and add something about the dog, like "I hung up and smiled, watching the risen sun and thinking about how happy Billy would be that they could keep Wonka after all" (or something like that).
But overall, I think it's a strong story and you seemed like you had fun writing it. You were right: this is a great story for dog lovers. Thanks for sharing it!

Oh thank goodness for a happy ending! I was getting very concerned. The story was well written, descriptive, and paced well. The dialog was believable and smooth. All in all a very pleasant, sweet story. Nicely done.
