This acrostic poem, SHARON MELISSA, has the proper formatting and shows the subject of the verse that she is valued and worthy of another's recognition.

What a great tribute to an old friend. I think it is a special honor to be forever immortalized in writing like this.

I would suggest holding or switching color of the first letter in each sentence to highlight/reveal here name. Lends a poignancy to the work.

Great piece. You have talent!

Hi Aisha,
A lovely poem for a woman who seems to have impacted your life in some way, albeit to take the ex away. I have one of those I am thankful for on a daily basis.
I like the part about letting go of the idea that you have to be perfect to be a friend (you put it way more poetic). It's a valid point.

Take care,
Rhonda

Hi, Dolly - This was in 1985. I wrote it to give to her because the guy didn't treat her any better than he treated me. ;-) This is what I wrote about him the same year...

    Requiem from the Last One

The image is of a funeral ? it is yours.
You are an old man when you die,
    telephone in your hand.

    I find you,
    slumped in the chair
that made you comfortable in my home.

    I sigh,
    take the receiver and call
the spirits to come and mourn.

    I know the names ?
    hours and hours of
    litanies of your loves:

your mother and toni and diane and pam and pat and elizabeth and melissa ?
    and? and... and?

I handle the business of your burial,
knowing, as you would never admit,
that I was not the one, either ?

    just the last one.

Men never change Aisha, I know someone who treated his ex-wife badly for years and then I met him and he was the same with me x x x

This is a great poem. I'm still learning how to express myself with not as many words, as the same as this poem. It's a great read, very fascinating.
God bless!

Sometimes some things are hard to change, the definition of a biblica saint is not quite the same as a biblical saint, all believers are ordained as saints, no one glows more than anyone else, but a lovely tribute, it's an excellent post, blessings Roy
