Great poem for this anniversary of this awful war started by the horrible dictator because of his greedy plans to take over the neighboring nations. It will take so many decades to rebuild Ukraine. Thanks for remembering them. Congratulations on the win!

A clearly expressed and succinct free verse capturing the essence of this tragic war as it reaches its second anniversary with no light shining yet. I particularly like: Ukraine, known for persistence and courage/ fights hard against tyranny's grip. Strong sentiments. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Thank you so for your positive review.
I awoke this morning to find I had come in First Place for this and for Missing in Walmart.

An excellent poem full of emotion.
A wonderful picture to show the sadness and fear in the eyes of the child.
Young children should not hear the sounds of war caused by ignorant men.
Thank you!

I fear for the outcome of the Ukrainian war as fighting the might of Russia and its massive resources, will be a challenge. Putin will not give up. A sensitive and touching poem, love Dolly x x x

Yes, there are ominous signs in the world today. That sense of foreboding comes across strongly in your poem. We not only have the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine an Gaza, but the threat of more to come as sabres rattle and dictators posture in various other parts of the world.

It has been three years, and the war has not ended. This morning, they stated that there is a conflict within Congress and an issue with helping Ukraine. We need to pray for sure!

Hi Mystery Poet,
I really liked your poem, a fine entry for the "Invasion Anniversary".
The saddest thing about this war in Ukraine is that we can only support the defense of the country with money and supplies. We can't go in there with a force of soldiers to fight against Putin. If we did, it could be World War III. But it looks like the money is running out, and Putin will have his way. It's tyranny. Are we being too gullible to think that Putin will stop with Ukraine? History shows what Hitler did. We need to wake up and smell the coffee.
My favorite lines,
"Ukraine, known for persistence and courage,
fights hard against tyranny's grip.
We watch with our hearts grieving,
praying tomorrow the light will shine again."
Nicely penned, and "Good Luck!" in the contest.
Cheers,
Kimbob

Excellent free verse, accompanied by a very moving photo. The words of your poem echo the sadness and grief experienced by all Ukrainians and expresses the solidarity felt by the rest of the world. Best wishes for your entry.

What good comes from war? The people of Ukraine didn't ask for this war. They are the recipients of a mad man's desire for more power and control. I so wish God would step in and shake Russia until it can no more rise to make war against anyone. Good luck in the contest.
Blessings,
Tom
