Welcome to the show.
Your submission is different than anything I've read since ... the beginning of my FanStory adventure two years ago. I pounded keys for a long time, never understanding how clickish cliche grouping rules the network.
I wish you well and say ... enjoy the experience for yourself. No one else counts.

Love at first sight does happen. So, you should never give up on finding someone you love. I treasured the time I had with my husband. There are good days and bad but deep down you love your soulmate.

Thank you for the great review and feedback. Fortunately, this poem is not based on my personal experience but an imaginative interpretation of someone close to me.

You had me at the first line. A wonderfully powerful poem that sucked me in and carried me through to the end.

I look forward to reading more submissions from you.

Congrats on your first post! Welcome! This is terrific. You have some amazing lines in this. My favorite is the one about the wedding smile turning to mortar. Fantastic. But that is just one. This is an emotional and hard hitting poem. Wonderful word choices and a joy to read.

Congrats on your first milestone, Amanda! And, wow, this is such an outpouring of sadness and emotion! But I'm so impressed by how you kept to the brief and captured the essence of youth and a life that had somehow lost any vitality and was, instead, empty and faded. Marriage didn't fill that void, only a hope that one day you'll be reconciled with true spiritual love in God. There are some lines that perplexed: (I) didn't ask for (rib?); pinning - pining? I love "the years blanketed these bones" This is a quite striking, well-considered verse and a great entry for this contest! Good luck! Debbie

An emotional and dramatic free verse Amanda, so much sadness in these lines. I found it a beautiful read, a free verse full of emotion, as the best ones are.
Welcome to fanstory.
cheers
