A Timely Message

I believe God often uses ordinary people to answer prayer.

What a great story, Beth!

I've never had a prayer answered that way, but I'd have to say it was lucky those boys asked for some direction and got their prayers answered.

This was an inspiring addition to your book. I'm happy your son reminded you of it.

Best, JohnC

Thank you so much John. I'm glad he reminded me too. My son was sort of accident prone and apt to get himself in to situations where prayer was his best option. He had told me of other experiences which I should have written down at the time.

Hi Beth, as you know I'm not in the least religious. The man was a good person and he somehow read the boys' body language. He asked them whether he could help and he gave them some sound advice to their questions. He was a kind person. Ullaxcx

Thank you Ulla, I appreciate the review and comments. I'm sure glad they took his advice. His timing was prefect because they were about to head over that mountain. They couldn't have gone down a incline that steep on those bikes.

Wow! I guess in the literal sense of the word "angel" which means "messenger", that man was performing the duty of an angel by giving God's message to the boys! What a great story! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for a great review and comments. Things like this have happened before in our family. I'm sure we aren't the only ones. I think a lot of people don't talk about things like this because they aren't sure people will be believe them.

I really enjoyed your story about your son's answer to prayer. I believe it might have been an angel. I do believe we don't always know when they interact with us, but in any case, I think he was God-sent.

Thank you Verna. I acknowledge it could have been an angel in human or a human doing God work because he was impressed to go. Either way it was an answered prayer. Thanks for the review and comments.

A lovely chapter, Beth, with an inspiring message to listen to our instincts as well as the advice of others because we never know how salient it might be. Your story is faultlessly told and a pleasure to read. Thank you, Beth. Debbie

That is a beautiful story of faith and trust, and the faith of the two boys would have been greatly confirmed by the presence and guidance of this man. Very interesting. And you are right. God providea angelic protection in ways seen and unseen. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Wendy. I really believe part of reason this happens is to make our faith stronger hy showing in a unexplained way how prayers can be answered. Although it had slipped my mind, I was glad to know my son hadn't forgotten.

Preaching to the choir sister. I have had those feelings occasionally but they are not always received well. When you announce God or an Angel told you they tend to want to send you away for the safety of the community. Karen

Thanks for nice review. I don't think I would announce that and hope they would come to that conclusion on their on. Some probably would and other woulr just remain in the dark as to why I was there.

I started saying, It just came on to me very strongly, I don't know why, but I had to tell you. This goes over better. And, when something does not happen because you prevented it, That is hard to prove, isn't it? Karen

I've had that strong feeling come over me too. When I try to ignore it it doesn't work, or If I ignore it long enough I alway regret it.

Prayers can be answered in many ways. The first is using our own discretion, and if troubled seek help with family and friends, then the church, all abided with humble prayer.

Can you imagine biking on a busy parkway and in those mountains now? A recipe for disaster, I think!

This is a good example as to why we should follow the strong urges we occasionally get, for no apparent reason. It may make no sense at the time, but why do we feel compelled?

Thanks for passing on your son's story.

Thank you Pam. I really apprefiate your review and comments. I think it they hadn't listened it would have disastrous. I hate going down that mountain in a car. I don't see how they could have controled bikes.

The apostle Paul states we might be entertaining angels unaware. I am sorry to spend so much time on myself, but this reminded me of an old family story, one my grandmother only told family members. She and my grandfather had eight children, all very decent people. In those days, money was scarce. My grandfather had a tailor shop. I was told he was a very honest man and would do favors for people if they didn't have money. Before all the children were born, he was very sick, in bed. My grandmother told no one. There was a knock, and a man dressed in white came in. "I've come to heal your husband," he said and went into the room. Not long thereafter, my grandfather came out and said, "For the first time in awhile, I feel well again!" My grandmother loved God. I believe we miss out on so many miracles today because so many have forsaken God.

Thank you for sharing this story Jim. I love it when something I write causes others to tell me their own stories. I think we all have miracles in our lives. We just don't acknowledge them because we aren't sure we'll be believed.

My whole life is a miracle. I should have been dead many times, but God took pity on me.
