You write so well. You write much better than I ever will. I like the photo you had included as a book cover. How is that you manage to not have any errors in sentence structure? Whereas me throughout life I always had issues among other things when writing.

A beautifully descriptive poem to begin this chapter Lea and your descriptions are carried right through to the positive news of your new home and the trip to the Mountains. Well done.

I liked reading your descriptive phrases throughout this post. I don't remember ever standing by a glacier ever. I think they say we have all kinds of glaciation or evidence of it in our mountain ranges in the state of Utah, but I'm not a geology major. I love to see Indian paintbrush, too.
Favorite lines:
But nothing could prepare me for the majesty and mastery of the Rocky mountains pleated with shields of ice and glacial lakes. Even in summer those glaciers endured. Standing in the warmth of the summer sun, right beside a glacier, is the wildest contradiction I had

This chapter is beautifully done. Your opening poetry, filled with colorful and imaginative personification, transports the reader into a fairytale dreamland. I enjoyed traveling along with you along the flat, straight highway as it curved and twisted. Your vivid descriptions allowed the reader to easily envision the roads you traveled, leading you to new, peaceful beginnings.

I'm so happy for you, Lea, that you've settled yourself in such a beautiful and contrasting place to where you formerly lived.

Your descriptions in this chapter were powerful and very vivid in describing the keen beauty of the place and the immense contrast with where you came from. I can see why you like to use apparent contradictions in your poetry because you've seen so many--like glaciers on a hot summer's day, and mountains springing up from flat land. Such is the beauty and variability of nature.

If only the next part of your story will be as beautiful as the surroundings! - Jim

Great opening with the use of personification It will draw the reader in immediately. And examples of juxtaposition. Also wonderful alliteration: "The pressure, the push and shove of city life and it's stinking air is no longer my home.
A small community in the middle of the mountains with a gorgeous forest and a beautiful lake will now become my home. I could not ask for more." You did well with your segway from one era to another.

Hello Lea,
I'm glad that you have a home that you can call your own. I'm not sure of the Kootenays, I've never checked the area out. It appears you have a mix of landscapes though. It's nice that the lake is close by.
Were you driving east with your boyfriend? I was wondering by the description of the flat land if you were heading through Alberta or Saskatchewan? Personally, I miss Southeast Alaska with the mountains that rise from the bays and inlets and all the water, but where I am it's still beautiful. The mountains are higher and we are surrounded by them here in the valley.
Have a blessed day gal.
Tom

A great and beautiful painted picture of the views and the rolling hills. Mountains and valleys similar to the way your mind is a picture of waves of rolling mountains and valleys. Best of luck on the next chapter

It sounds like you drove through some amazing country. You were anticipating being with someone you cared about and were antipating starting over. It should like you are in ideal spot now which you are moving too. Did you buy the mobile home and the land that it is one or is it all rental? I hope it turns out to be exactly what you hoped in woule be like.

Born a country boy who has bred and raced thoroughbred horses most of his life, I could hardly wait to escape the chirp of crickets for the concrete jungle. Then after many years of three days a week on a plane and most every night in a hotel, I realized the importance of clean air, peace and quiet. Hey, congrats on the new place. Thanks for sharing.
