Hi Navada.
This is a wonderful short ode to all those who serve or served their country. It is the way everyone worldwide should feel about their
soldiers.
Congrats on placing second in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Enjoy the rest of your week.

Amen!!! I don't know about your country but in US today, it seems our military isn't getting the respect they deserve. Thank you for sharing this remembrance with us as a contest entry. Good luck with the contest.

Nicely done. This resonates with me deeply as my father fought in the Korean War and he came back from the Chosin reservoir with a bunch of wild unfathomable and sad stories about what he saw and heard during an actual war. HYes, the last word should be respect. Always. thanks for this. GK

Thank you so much. My Dad served with BCOF in Japan and Korea in the aftermath of the Korean War.

One thing about FanStory is that it seems to be popular in Australia. I knew very little about that part of the world until I joined this site. I've learned a lot about the holidays, celebrations and people. To be on the other side of the world, you aren't so different after all. It was good to learn about Anzac Day.

Ah - I love this one. You've managed to convey how it feels to be standing there when it is time to remember those who have fallen OR those who triumphed!
Well done, and good luck in the contest,
~MP~

Thank you! The deadline for this contest is April 25 so it seemed appropriate. :)

My dad's once a year day was ANZAC day, he served with distinction in WW2 and was a Dunkirk veteran, my brother was a Vietnam vet, and was actually wounded, the Americans love their vets, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you so much, Roy. It's a very meaningful day for those of us who have never served to honour those who did so very much for us.

Hello Navada,
I'm curious, does New Zealand and Australia share a common military objective? I know that they are two different countries, but I'm not too familiar what political or societal differences there might be. Thanks for sharing about this important day, I may of heard of it once before, but I had forgotten. Have a blessed day.

Thanks so much, Tom. We are separate countries, but we are physically close and share many things. It's a kind of brotherly relationship. Possibly similar to the US and Canada?

-Very nice image and presentation, Navada.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-You have written a good poem with
a good topic and effective rhyme.
-You create a vivid word picture with
only a few words.
-The crowd stands tall and heads are
bowed as they share their respect for
those who have fallen in battle and
want to remember and honor them.
-Very well done; good luck in the contest.

An excellent 2 line verse here commemorating Anzac Day! I like the way it flows so neatly with rhyme and is perfectly complemented by the eye-catching image. Well done, Navada, and good luck! Debbie
